Ah, the Colours!

  1. Been AWOL, decorating a Unity candle set for my DIL's sister's wedding. It was contracted, but I'm giving it, holders and all, as a gift. Wedding is in Nov, but I'd like to have this in their hands soon. Mah*Sweetie and I will be at the wedding as childcare givers for our grands! Bliss!

  3. A few gleanings:

"A new Reuters/Ipsos poll finds that only half of Republicans would accept Hillary Clinton as their president. And if she wins, nearly 70% said it would be because of illegal voting or vote rigging."

Hmmm… 50%/70% of maybe one third of voters?

“Amidst reports that occupancy rates at Trump Hotels have slipped this election season, the company has announced that new brand hotels will no longer bear the Trump name,” Travel & Leisure reports.
“The newest line of luxury hotels, geared towards millennials, will be called Scion.”

    Uppity is as uppity does?
“For much of his campaign, Donald Trump has done more to repel voting women than he has to win them over. Now mounting evidence suggests they are already punishing him for it at the ballot box,” Politico reports.
“In three crucial battlegrounds — North Carolina, Florida and Georgia — women are casting early ballots in disproportionate numbers. And in North Carolina, a must-win state for Trump with detailed early voting data available, it’s clear that Democratic women have been particularly motivated to turn out or turn ballots in.”

Former Arizona governor Jan Brewer declared Friday that Arizona won’t go blue for Hillary Clinton because Hispanic Democrats “don’t vote.”

GOP House members in Latino-heavy House districts have an extra burden running with Trump as the nominee — whether they back him or not.

I expect some good-quality post-debate polls to start showing up in a couple of days.

I am thinking that the Republican party cannot be put back together again, although it may keep moving for a while, like a snake or a chicken with its head cut off. Given the degree to which the Democratic Party has moved to the right over the years, occupying space on the political spectrum abandoned by the GOP, there just isn't enough space between the right wing of the Dems and the lunatic fringe to accommodate a major political party. On either the left or the right, members would have to be attracted from the Democratic Party to make a new party significant and viable. There hasn't been a new major party since the rise of the Republicans; but that happened pretty quickly, and things can move at least as fast today as 160 years ago. This could become very interesting, although aspects of the transition may be at least as scary as what came after the death of the Whig Party. Just saying'.
