Hey there...

  1. Our Revolution? [Click] Hmmmm… so it isn’t just me… Our Revolution seems to be going the same way as DFA, maybe faster. Well, when my finances recover, maybe I will start a continuing donation to Brand New Congress.

    1. I think Bernie is making a major mistake trying to "reform" the Democratic Party from within. I believe it is beyond saving. It would be as if Elliot Ness became a gangster to take down Capone.

    2. That is what makes the approach of Brand New Congress interesting--making an end-run around the two-party system. Of course no one knows how it will work out, but they are a capable bunch, quite a few brought up in the Dean AND Bernie campaigns. At this point I would not sell them short.

Cynico-realist evaluation of the Clinton campaign, or pre-epitaph of the Democratic Party? No matter what, I will continue voting until I am dead or addled. The day may yet come when the castle collapses.

    1. Perhaps "Festung" would be a better choice of word than "castle." Or maybe not.

    2. Point well taken; but I should say it is still at the stage of prodromal symptoms--it augurs to become much worse.

  4. I had a nice thank-you letter from Tim Canova, and sent him a bit of love to help wrap up his campaign. I remain disappointed that Bernie didn't campaign for him.

    1. Yes, I received the same email and also sent a little to help. My vague understanding of the situation is that Weaver set up Our Revolution so it could accept dark money and therefore they were not allowed to coordinate with candidates. I am also disappointed in Bernie because he could have made a difference and didn't. Debbie will be facing off against a Green candidate in the general. God! Debbie is soooo disgusting!

    2. Yes, she is. But she is a creature of the organization (dare I say gang?) the Democratic Losership Council made of the Democratic Party--not a cause, but a symptom. A very nasty symptom.

  5. Cute kitties!

Apparently, HRC has been handed her campaign slogan on a platter. If the organization doesn't run with it, they are more inept than even I gave them credit for.

    HRC's new slogan?

    Clinton/Cain
For a taco truck on every corner

I think it's kind'a catchy, myself. And at least it's something real and concrete that everyone can relate to. Hell, if she could actually *guarantee* it, even I might vote for her.

    1. Facebook and Twitter have been going crazy all day. As one of the headlines you list indicates, the general consensus is that it's a swell idea, perhaps even being against it is un-American. *grin* As indicated, I myself am in favor of a many taco trucks as possible.

    2. I can't say as I have ever (stick-in-the-mud that I am) patronized a taco truck, but I understand the term has become generic for any such fast-food trucks, and would be applied to one serving, for instance, curry-wurst. I gather that modern technology has really been a boon to the business--if one is looking for a particular "taco" truck, one can locate it with one's smartphone. I suppose that one can also scan for ones nearby.

    3. In this area, the generic term is "food truck." "Taco truck" would only be used for one serving tacos, and that is clearly the way the Trumpista intended it.

Interestingly, the Tribune's list of the 5 best pizzas in Chicago included one that is typically available from a "mobile pizza kitchen."

  8. Several days ago I received an e-mail from the local Democratic Party asking me to help elect local Democrats, and Hillary Clinton. After thinking about it quite a bit I let them have it with one barrel. By and large they are not a significant force, because they get no support to speak of from either the state or national Democratic Party organizations, which, in a self-fulfilling prophecy, can't see wasting money where only Republicans can win.
