Danger, Will Robinson!

  1. Huzzah for Sanders!

Tired from working the weekend, soon to bed, but here is a link about The Return of She and a fantasy reprint series:

Ayesha, the Return of She is a gothic-fantasy novel by the popular Victorian author H. Rider Haggard, published in 1905, as a sequel to his far more popular and well known novel, She. It was serialised in the Windsor Magazine in 1904-5.

Its significance was recognised by its republication by the Newcastle Publishing Company as the fourteenth volume of the celebrated
Newcastle Forgotten Fantasy Library series [Click] in October 1977.

I am towards the end of the book--a very readable sequel to She.

    1. Well, now! That is very promising; thanks for the link, puddle. The practical application of the law will take a long time to work out, but strikes me as a considerable advance over the common (albeit incomplete) understanding of the biblical grant of authority to humans over the natural world. Here's hoping the idea spreads like smallpox!

    2. Thanks, Puddle. It is indeed heartening to see some good news amid all the terrible news there's been lately.

  3. The first (and only?) tiny rebellion was put down at the convention. #nevertrump peeps putting up a bit of a fight, but it fell one state short. Now can be dealt with the police asking for a suspension of open carry, and Kasich refusing.

Hot and muggy. Ick! Beau hates being out during daylight. Does better at midnight.

    1. I read Mah*Sweetie your note about open carry and he postulated that all it would take is for one person to shoot during the convention, 80% of attendees whip out their weapons and shoot back "and when the smoke clears all you see is Bruce Willis."

    2. I guess that would solve the Republican problem. I wish there were as neat a way to solve the Democratic problem. God save me from earnest, patient HRC supporters asking if I really don't think she would be better than Trump and if, as such, I can't see my way clear to voting for her since, a vote for anyone else is just a vote for Trump. Can't decide if that's more or less offensive than the belligerent ones who say all Bernie supporters are stupid, naive robots. It's my own fault, though. I cautiously posted on this particular thread to say that, though I am no supporter of HRC, still the more extreme attacks on her make no sense to me. Should have left well enough alone and moved on. But, no. I had to read the thread, which was loaded with self-congratulatory braindead HRC Koolade drinkers. And, of course, I spotted a comment I just had to reply to, and another, and before I knew where I was, I was fending off sneers on one side and earnest reasoning on the other. When am I going to learn to keep my big mouth shut?

After thousands of N-word laden pro-Trump comments, the GOP has disabled chat on its convention live-stream. #RNCinCLE #RNCinCLE #TCOT

The Republican National Convention is Comic Con for uncles you have to block on Facebook.

  6. Sociopaths are VERY scary people to deal with up close and personal. Distance seems to make them seem a bit saner. Up close it seems you can really almost see the snake just under the skin.

  7. So...what? We should all suck it up and vote for HRC because she's so stable and, besides, it would be way cool to have a lady president? And, oh yeah, it would be wicked cool to have a lady president, a lady prime minister and a lady chancellor. (This last from my sister who is about as politically sophisticated as a four-year-old.)

  8. To quote Marvin the Paranoid Android, "God, I'm so depressed!"

Apropos of which, with apologies to Puddle, recently I've discovered a great treatment, if perhaps not cure, for depression is watching Torvill and Dean videos on YouTube. Even I can appreciate their brilliance. They're just magnificent.

  9. Now, now, Cat--aside from being a dishonest, greedy, corrupt warmonger who got where she is by riding on a man's coattails, supported the DOMA, capital punishment and extrajudicial assassinations while opposing the Mothers' Pension, Ms Clinton is probably OK. [Granted, that *is* in poor taste. Bad me.]

Oh, and not that she is by any means my favorite editorial cartoonist, here is the Lisa Benson cartoon for Wednesday past. [Click]
