Lemon Cake (made with real lemons….mmmm…)

  1. We have the power!

While pruning back some seriously overgrown vines on the fence yesterday, I was mulling things over. It occurred to me that the problem HRC and her supporters have with Bernie and his supporters is that the latter are simply too uppity. Which suggests another bumper sticker or rally sign slogan: "Uppity for Bernie." I wonder if young folks would recognize the historical and social significance of the word...if not, that is probably all to the good. And thus to the morning's gleanings:

Democrats angle for power in Clinton administration.
Lawmakers are raising money and campaigning with the hopes of landing jobs or amassing clout if she wins.

    1. Oops: "Title" and "Economist Argues..." links are garbled. They should be a single link, as follows:

    3. I think what's going on is that the media define "non-white" as black or Latino. Asians, Native Americans, and Pacific Islanders are considered effectively white.

Of course, that's aside from their broad paintbrush that ignores all the blacks, Latinos, and older people who feel the Bern.

    1. Well, well, well. Probably not a lot of national convention delegates switching columns (assuming nothing weird happens at the state convention), but gratifying nonetheless.

    2. Oh, crap! I fell for it. My excuse is being physically tired from gardening. We finished pruning back a massively overgrown bunch of vines, repaired a trellis and got a couple of the vines started on it again. Taxes tomorrow.

  6. listener--re "An Evangelical Responds to Sanders' Speech at Liberty University"

That's powerful stuff, listener; he does his religion proud. A while back I was moved to educate myself about what evangelicalism actually is, and I could see why my ancestors in the early 19th Century became Methodists; there are things there I can certainly empathize with, just like the Holiness Church and Sufism, although the frames of reference in which they function are frankly foreign and uncomfortable for me. Thanks for the link; I have a mind to go back and read the complete transcript [link after the excerpts].
