Neighbour's Pretty Kitty

  1. Dr. Dean is First!

Today I had major routine bloodwork done to test cholesterol and blood sugar levels, liver function and even inflammation, and more. My new doc is checking me over pretty thoroughly. I'll find out the results next Monday when I go in for a visit. Hoping good things. I kind of wish they had weighed me and taken a BP reading too, today, because I was doing great...and I had kind of hoped to be able to "cheat" a little bit this week, what with family coming and two reunions to attend! Oh well!

I did reward myself with a chocolate ice cream cone (after a good protein and fruit lunch!), then ate another handful of raw pistachio nuts, so at least the carbs weren't unopposed.

  2. BRASS MONKEYS BEWARE!

... Record high temperature tied in Burlington Vermont...

As of 202 PM... the temperature at the Burlington International
Airport read 93 degrees. This ties the record set back in 1955 and
    1901.

Hottest July 15th of my life!

  3. Here is a good blog from HuffPost about the law in the Zimmerman case: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/alafair-burke/george-zimmerman-jury-instructions_b_3596685.html?utm_hp_ref=daily-brief?utm_source=DailyBrief&utm_campaign=071513&utm_medium=email&utm_content=BlogEntry

One important point about the Zimmerman case is that there is no concrete evidence to contradict his story of what happened, so you cannot conclude beyond a reasonable doubt that he is lying. And part of his story is that he had turned his back and was walking away when Martin attacked him from behind. That means he had broken off any confrontation he might be deemed to have provoked and the "initial aggressor" exception to "stand your ground" does not seem to apply.

    1. I sure wish that guy had just stayed in his car...or home. Shouldn't there be some consequence of him taking the law into his own hands? Is this an Anarchy?

    2. I'm more inclined to wish he hadn't brought a gun. Aside from everything else, it caused HIM nothing but trouble.

    3. He ended a life. He deserves trouble.

    4. But he wouldn't have ended a life if he hadn't had the gun with him to begin with.

  4. Warmer than I wanted, but not as hot as tomorrow's predicted to be. Had the a/c on all day, about as much for the humidity as for the heat.

    1. Got all the gardening done, though it took until we were out of all daylight! Tomorrow and Weds I have LOTS of cleaning to do, as guests are coming. Tired tonight, but a shower sure helps!
