Happy Sunday!

  1. Hip, Hip, HOWARD!

The only rational explanation I can think of for individually sealing the sweet potatoes is to keep them from drying out in storage or on the shelf. Among irrational explanations there would be the fear that Mr. Germ is going to jump out and get you. Maybe they're hydroponic sweet potatoes, for people who don't credit the old saying that you have to eat a peck of dirt before you die? For cat's sake, you're going to cook them, aren't you?

    1. Well, they are easily dented, after which they rapidly deteriorate. I've seen ZUCCHINI that's shrink-wrapped! Next they'll be shrink-wrapping avocados. ;-)

  2. puddle, your email sent me an automatic reply. Being a thoroughly paranoid person, I don't want to fill out that whatever-it-is. Need to make sure I still have your correct mailing address. Hoping to mail tomorrow and will send a tracking number (somehow) when I have one. My email address for friends and family is:

susan (dot) davidson 09 @ gmail.com (no spaces)

    1. Just needed to fish it out of the suspect email folder. Answer on the way. Thank you soooooooooo much!! Last year I had a real nightmare that I'd lose this care due to lack of those parts! The garage has made clear that they can't keep fixing it up infinitely, and to be very careful about turning them on at all, lol! This is such a huge relief, I can hardly tell you! xoxoxoxooxox

  3. Mixed feeling about the convention. Didn't seem to be as many people there as usual. That meant not as many people stopped by the bid table to talk as I would have hoped. Just sitting is pretty boring. But I did get a couple of people to support the Phoenix bid and a couple promised to go on-line and support the Spokane bid after they got home, so it wasn't a waste from that point of view. And the panels I was on went well. One women even told me I was a good talker. So I guess I'd have to call it a pretty good con over all.

    1. Sounds challenging but worthwhile. Congrats on being a good talker! I like that phrase. :-)

  4. Just before I left Friday I saw Alan's comment regarding his mixed feelings about the Supreme Court's decision on the Voting Rights Act. I feel the same way. If Congress were to pass an up-to-date law, as the court implicitly said it should, that would be a good thing. But we all know it's not going to happen.

It's important to remember, though, that the core of the Act is still intact and can be enforced in the courts. All that has changed is the requirement that certain areas have to get federal approval in advance rather than having their actions challenged in court afterward as would be the case in Illinois.

  5. Absolutely wiped out. BIG weekend, what with the Anniversary. We had VT*Grand here overnight last night and ohhh mannn she started to get grumpy, then slowly we realised she wasn't feeling quite well. On Sunday we weren't feeling great either, though not the same symptoms. So it was a challenge. But despite all that, I managed to get 16 packs of notecards, a painting and some framed photographs all ready to bring to the Old Red Mill tomorrow, where they will be offered throughout July, as part of the local art league, so for exhibit, but also for sale. Fingers crossed! :-)
