  1. Sixth birthdays are very special; I'm sure Gov. Dean won't mind stepping aside for Ally today.

    Getting caught up:

Sorry about Orange, Bill. "Pets" become part of us. Our cat has been acting old lately; we don't know how old she is, but she IS getting on in cat years. She was a stray who adopted us.

Off to Hayward for court tomorrow/today (Wednesday).

Diet going well; nine pounds in three weeks with minimal hunger. (One morning I was dreaming, and the dream got along to a part that involved being served a big plate of the most delicious looking fried potatoes--shaped like big french fries, crispy like the best hash browns, soft on the insides, obviously fried with lots of oil... then I woke up, checked my weight, and I had gained a pound! Even if it was just random statistical variation, it's good for a laugh.)

  5. Didn't realize h ow long I'd been away. Must catch up. But, from what Alan says, Bill, I gather something bad has happened or is about to happen to your kitty? I'm so sorry!

    Mild and misty day here.

  6. Bill, I'm so sorry for your loss of Orange♥ The blessing is that he went quickly. And I'm quite sure he knew he was well loved.

  7. Listener, love the photos, both the cute upside down kitty and the snow scene. That one looks like a Maxfield Parrish illustration of Winter - as Bill says, what a real winter should look like.

    1. Cat, ah, go look again at the upsidedown kitty photo and you'll find there are two kitties in that photo, making the Yin/Yang symbol! LOL!

  9. Here's the latest Ally update...

    Ally is six!!!!!!

We are celebrating by mommy and daddy being home sick, and Grammy and Grampa thankfully taking Ally for most of the day, so we can rest. Ally's morning Kindergarten was cancelled because of the icy conditions as well. Fun times!

Over the weekend Ally started to get "goopy eyes". She also said her ear hurt, and when she laid down for bed, she said she was dizzy. We were hoping it would pass quickly, but she was not any better on Monday. So, we called up her pediatrician and got her in that night...double ear infection! They were not so bad that she needed antibiotics, but with her surgery on Friday, the doctor gave them to us; so Ally will be good to go. The doctor also prescribed some eye drops (although she did not really think Ally had pink eye) to clear those up for the surgery as well. Ally is doing well with the meds, although she hates the "pink stuff" (I did too, when I was little). Her energy is as high as ever, and she is super excited about her birthday. (She is a little bummed school was cancelled this morning.)

We are all set for port removal on Friday.

Happy Birthday to our little miracle!

  10. Excellent weather for our trip to Hayward and back today; we had been apprehensive about fog, but there was only a bit in the river bottom. Traffic not light, but not heavy either. I was once again struck by the volume of truck traffic in and out of the San Francisco Bay Area; since the Wall Street definition of the end of the recession took hold, the increase in truck traffic has been very obvious. But the Bay Area is the real hotspot in California (I think Los Angeles is also doing well). Most of the rest of the state is still in a bad way. We had hoped to be able to have lunch with Naomi, but the timing didn't work out. Well, next time maybe.

I finished reading Leonard Wibberley's "The Mouse on the Moon" (the third book in the Mouse That Roared series). Now on to "The Mouse on Wall Street." I might order up the movie version of "The Mouse on the Moon."

    TTFN
