  2. Sooo, here's how it all turned out.
You may recall that we made the tough decision not to have our Maine Grands come for the weekend this weekend, since I wasn't all well yet. So their parents took them to visit their other grandmother instead, and she watched the girls while the parents went hiking all day Saturday. Our VT granddaughter and her Mom joined them later than planned on Saturday, because her Mom had a lower GI bug Friday night. (Same one I got last night.) That night (last night), Eldest Maine Grand came down with strep throat again! Heh. So now everyone is counting out the 3 to 5 days to see if either of the other two come down with it. Just sooo glad I wasn't exposed!

Strep throat is good not to have. But thank goodness for antibiotics, which largely eliminate the awful sequelae such as rheumatic and scarlet fevers.

Leg all better this morning--no pain and don't need a cane, although I will take one as a precaution (ditto knee brace).

Cooler today (52/41 degrees F, 80% chance of rain predicted, 100% actually).

The lady cardinal is very pretty--we don't have cardinals out here. It occurs to me that unlike king/queen, duke/duchess, count/countess etc. we have no specialized word (at least not one known to me) for a female cardinal. Misogyny, that's what it is!

  9. Seems like everbody's on the mend! Let's keep it that way campers, lol!

Was looking for the vet recommended knock off flea/tick treatment. Pet Armour. The picture on the 89 -132 pound could be Beau. . . . I took it as a sign. (The stuff's legal -- Merial's copyright ran out.)

  11. Looks good. You'll be making Beau's world a lot nicer, and yours into the bargain. ♥

  12. Hope so. So far, Frontline hasn't worked. (Since his stint with the vet/rescue peeps) It cuts down, but leaves some which multiply while you're waiting out the month. . . . Cant believe he's made it through the winter with 'em.

  13. We've never liked the flea collars. For Emma-cat, we used to use a liquid that was placed at the back of her neck (so she couldn't lick it off). It worked wonders! But she was an indoor cat.

  14. LOL Alan

Glad the leg is better, but I agree that taking the cane is the better part of wisdom.

My wishes also. I don't seem to have picked up anything from the con, although "con crud" is a well known phenomenon.

  18. Check this out if you are able:
This is a plot of all the earthquakes of last year. As you can imagine the BIG one in Japan on March 11th really shows up. What I found most compelling was to see the magnitude and multitude of aftershocks the people in Japan endured. There were a CONSTANT stream of them for MONTHS! I knew this, but hadn't comprehended it to the extent it happened until I saw it here.
