  2. We went out to dinner this evening, and later saw the new Tintin movie. Only the 3D version was showing in the evening and we should have preferred the 2D; but it is a good movie. On the way home after dinner and before the movie we detoured a bit here and there to see Christmas lights. We turned up one nearby street lined with palatial houses that normally have extravagant light displays... and it was mostly dark! We immediately wondered if the economic downturn had also hurt many of the wealthy so hard? Or did they feel that such ostentation would be in poor taste this year? (It hadn't seemed to bother them in the past.) It's something to think about, for sure.

  3. Thanks, Alan! :-)

So, we went to midnight mass at Christ Episcopal Church in Montpelier, and the service was beautiful, the music amazing (violins, horn and all), and the person reading the first reading of the service was none other than Willem Lang! He was also an usher and kidded me about the photos I was taking before the service. On the way out he greeted us again. So I shook his hand and said, "I know how you like a good story..." and proceeded to tell him about baby Mia Charlotte. He was very warmed by it and asked what her name is. :-) Pretty sweet!

  4. Susan, the poem is lovely! Thanks for posting the link.

Went to bed *very* early last night, and up pretty late this morning. About 13 hours sleep, which I seem to have needed.

Gotta listen to your body, puddle.

Turkey in the oven, extra stuffing ready to pop into the oven after the bird comes out. Continuing with laziness; beautiful, sunny day.

Another indication of an exceptionally warm winter: Miyoko spotted a hummingbird this morning. It's well past time for them to have flown south for the winter. (It boggles my mind that some hummingbirds migrate across the Gulf of Mexico!)

  8. Thank you, every one!

Alan, my body has been running the works for about a couple of years, now, lol! All these strange longings (pretty much given in to), which on research after the fact, turn out to be things that relax the dratted LES. But prolly if my MIND had been paying attention, it wouldn't have gotten *this* far. But then watching my Achalasia support group, it seems like if *anything* is working, there's just more delay. The onliest ones of us who DON'T argue is those that hit the wall: always ER and dehydrated. Why if one can't swallow WATER does it not register that something's VERY wrong? People are so hopeful, eh?

  9. Yeah. If something gets worse and then better, you think maybe it'll stay all better this time.

  10. Yep, that's definitely the mechanism, lol!

Having a very nice Christmas celebration! Quiet day, snow drifted down, ate lots of yummy things, good conversations, watched Patrick Stewart's A Christmas Carol, and later The Secret Garden (with Maggie Smith in it). Mah*Sweetie framed one of my drawings, as a surprise! Root*Center*Son gave me a really cute doorstop for our Beatrix Potter painted bathroom, which is a little doormouse. :-) We've heard from most of the kids, and they seem to be having a good day too. Last evening our Maine granddaughters went with Daughter and Son*in*Maine to the church Christmas Pageant and Eucharist. They brought the little ones up for a blessings. Eldest*Granddaughter went first, getting her blessing. Immediately, Littlest*Granddaughter turned to Daughter (her Auntie, who was holding her) and said, "Me too?" :-) Sooo cute! ♥

  12. Another lazy day, Santa was nice to us, and so was the weatherperson.

I seem to have finally figured out the stretching exercise that deals with the muscle in my right leg that has been giving me hob for some time now. Besides finding the right stretch, the other big factor is to do it several times (but not overdo it), holding it for a minute at a time with rests in between. I learned that from the physical therapist at Kaiser when I got crippled up after my surgeries and subsequent inactivity following my operations a couple of years back.

About time to finish carving the turkey, clean up the kitchen, and make our bed.
