  3. We expect a good report, puddle.

Fairly lazy day today, but got some things done. Miyoko and Naomi went shopping for a bit. I changed out a couple of fluorescent lights in the study room, picked the meat off the turkey bones we boiled up last night, and continued with another Darkover novel. [More than half way through already.] We got some epiphytia (Christmas Cactus and suchlike) rearranged in the front entry, and I got new supports ready for the shadecloth that was blown down a while back. Not able to finish the job because the old shadecloth had ripped and wouldn't reach any more. I will buy some new and put it up when I can. I was planning to take care of a couple of consulting jobs and didn't, but nothing will be happening with them this week ennyhoo.

  6. It's warm here today, and dripping. We had 4" of snow, but it's mushing down fast now. Not to worry, more is expected later in the week...just dribs and drabs of snow, but all we really need is a good dusting to keep everything looking fresh and bright. That's easier on the birds and beasts and travelers, too.

It's 39 with Light Rain at puddle's house. Warm enough to keep Beau and Stevie comfortable, while not being the kind of weather one would get the wunderlust in. ;-)

  7. A little bit of rain last night and this morning. Not much, but just enough to push 2011 into second place on the all-time wettest year list.

  8. And the year isn't even over yet!

  9. Just found this on puddle's Facebook page from her son:

I got mom to the hospital on time (5:30am). She was prepped and rolled off to the ER at 7:15. At 10:30 the doc comes out and says she's fine and recovering. It'll be another two hours before I can see her in her room.

Sounds good! I have to go to work now, but will check in when I can.

  10. GLAD TIDINGS!!!

    From puddle's son:
Mom is resting in her room, awake but looking tired...still under effects of anesthesia. She is able to drink water and has commented on how good it feels, to have it go all the way down. She's wondering if she'll get dinner.

(So glad I brought my computer to work so I could check in! :-) Gotta run... )

  11. Good news indeed! And to think that just having a swallow of water go all the way down to your stomach counts as a blessing!

  13. Okay, here's what happened. My brother Paul arrived in town yesterday around dinner time yesterday. We had dinner, watched a bit of tv, talked for a bit, and then Paul retired to the couch-bed in the living room. Demetrius had something to work on in the office, and I decided to check on some of the places where I'd applied for jobs. On a whim, I check the Craigslist education job listing--even though that's been a dead end in the past.

There was a new listing, with yesterday's date, saying "psychology adjunct instructors needed ASAP". It was really late at night, and I had a resume ready, but not a cover letter, so I thought I should just bookmark the page and get back to it in the morning.

But then I reconsidered, somehow came up with a cover letter at like 2 in the morning, and sent it via e-mail with my resume attached.

Today, right after getting home from a shopping trip with Paul, and just as we were getting ready to all go out to lunch, I got a call. I'm going to be teaching one section of Intro to Psychology, and one of Human Development. That's not the whole story, but it's all I am able to write for now.

I'm going for a brief orientation tomorrow (I think--need confirmation on that) and classes start next week.

  14. Puddles son:

I'm heading back to the farm now. I'll be back tomorrow to see how she's doing. Doctor says she can have food tomorrow. Doesn't want anything to mess up his handiwork. Mom is really chatting it up with the nurse now.

  26. Sooo, tomorrow I was planning to clean house, have lunch with Mah*Sweetie, then go spring Granddaughter*in*VT outta Day Care. ;-) But at work today I got asked to fill in for yet another coworker who is out sick. Our children's librarian has the flu really badly!!

So I will now be going to work, then going to pick up Granddaughter. I expect to be absolutely exhaustified by the end of the day! Plus...it's the anniversary of the day Mah*Sweetie asked me to marry him...and with him leaving for work before I leave work, we might not even see each other! So I plan to have a special midnight snack all ready when he gets home, with candles lighted. Then I hafta get some shut eye and get up early. But at least it'll be the 28th tonight when he gets home. The extra $$ in next week's pay check will be nice, all the same.
