  1. In any weather, Howard Dean is First...especially when storms arise!

Off to the book mine one more time before resting.

  2. Beautiful sunrise this morning: all pink and gold and promising. And brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr cold. But not so cold as promised, so blessing.

  3. Beautiful clear morning, but it feels like there is snow on the mountains and there is said to be a possibility of rain this evening and tomorrow. We leave shortly to visit Naomi, the Thanksgiving sale of a very good potter in Berkeley (he made a set of bowls to order for us since our last visit), and some shopping in San Jose on the way back. We are refinancing our house--can knock about two percent off the interest rate with a conventional 15-year loan, and plan to pay it off in ten years, by which time I expect to mostly retire.

    Later, gaters.

  4. Of course, for you "mostly retire" would probably mean working just one job.

  5. Lol! you two! The healthiest, happiest old people I met in China were those who were still working long past retirement because "They tell me they *need* me. . . . " So enjoy!

  6. I'll be working at the Library until my legs give out. My eldest coworker is already 66.

My legs almost gave out today ... one of them complained about working another day in succession, and then my tailbone chimed in. Finally I remembered about pain relievers (LOL!) and took and Aleve. That helped immensely!

I was less worried about the work hours, because I had control over what movements I made. But I feared for the afternoon with our 4 year old granddaughter. Then! I learned that her Mom got out of work early, so they were going to make their 2 hour drive (to visit Mom's side of the family) early. I was soooo disappointed and upset! But I hear Granddaughter just plain burst into tears at the thought of not getting to see her Grammie! After missing out on seeing Granddaughter's day care yesterday, because I had agreed to fill in for two coworkers who were on vacation, I was a bit resentful that I might miss Granddaughter by a matter of minutes because some library patrons decided to come for a book just a few minutes before closing, so we had to stick around longer than usual. But her Mom decided to meet us at a restaurant for a snack before starting the drive, so it worked out for everyone. =Whew!=

Now for a nap, dinner and a movie. Sweet!

  7. I remember those peeps from my bookstore days. We had to stay, but the company checked us out at five, period. So the LUCKY ones that got in at 4:59 and didn't leave till a quarter to six were just plain stealing our time (management, too). The only good part is that we're not related to them. Imagine being married to people who think nothing at all about others.

  8. Had to laugh: found this in my research ~~

"As is well known, achalasia patients tend to be a very optimistic patient group. Were you able to correlate your postoperative procedure scores with any other studies, such as contrast radiography, endoscopy, or postop manometry, to confirm the findings that you have found with regard to your preoperative manometry?"

Guess that means they talk about us when we're not around?

  9. They must love you! You'd think they go out of their way to get to see you!

  10. Yah, I remember then from my bookshop days too. Clergy were the worst. I chalk it up as "ministry to the overextended." But just sometimes, like today, my need is greater than theirs!

  11. Ooooo. What colour glaze? Large bowls, salad bowls, or?

  12. I think it hit 50 here today! The sunshine was gorgeous, and the wind dropped off later in the day. This may have been the last warm day of the season. Highs in the 30's expected most of the week, and snow expected the day before Thanksgiving, when the family is traveling. Heh.

  13. Lol! You'd think, eh?
