Retreat will have ended mid-day on Sunday, when I drove back to see those adorable Granddaughters, and spent the night there again. Today I drive back home to Vermont!

  2. Hallo from Panera Bread in Concord, NH! I never stop at a Panera without thinking of dear Miss Roadpop! I'm 3/4 of the way home from retreat! Yayyyy!

    I stayed an extra hour this morning and littlest granddaughter played hooky for an hour from day care. We had a blast! Then Daddy biked her off to "school" and I headed down the road. I didn't get far. I happened to get to the on-ramp to I-95S just as it was being paved, so we were detoured. Now, had we merely been detoured down an exit, I would have been okay with that. But they detoured us on back roads half way across NH!! (A 2 1/2 hour detour!) It's a good thing I had Mrs. Bale with me! She's our British-speaking GPS,named for the character in As Time Goes By who runs the country estate with exacting firmness, but a kind heart. :-)

    Okay, back on the road again! XOXOXXX

  3. Got home around 6:20pm and have been settling in. Ahhhhh~

    So how is everybody?? I'll read back through the threads as I am able.
    I missed everyone's shared rambles. But ohhh I'm so glad I went.
    For the first time in my life I "get it" why I need a daily contemplative practice.
    I'd never heard quite this reasoning before and it fits my heart.

  4. How am I? Don't quite know what to say. Couple of minor things going on in my life that need to be resolved, but probably will be in a few days. fOffset by Penny coming around to the idea that, since we're going to be in Seattle next 4th of July, we should use the opportunity to take an Alaska cruise. I really wanted to take at least one cruise in my lifetime, and there will never be a better opportunity. Or, considering my age, maybe any other opportunity at all.

  6. (cross posted from FaceBook) Just got home from 10 hours in the ER and ICU with Renee. She came home from teaching Friday complaining of flu-like symptoms and just sacked out. Saturday it wasn't better. Sunday she was having dizziness. We went to the ER to have her checked out. They think the symptoms were because of bleeding in her stomach or esophagus. She had an NG tube and they pumped 300ml of ruddy goo out of her stomach. They gave her 4 units of blood and I don't know how many bags of various clear stuffs. Her color is a lot better. There's no more red coming up the NG tube. So, the bleeding has probably stopped. We have a GI consult in the morning and they may put a scope down her to see what is going on. Prayers and good vibrations are more than welcome!

  7. (cross posted from FaceBook) I got a call this morning that her hemoglobin count was stable at 8 after getting the 4 units of PRBC (packed red blood cells.) It was at 4 when she checked in. The nurse joked that she looks "about a quart low". And, that turned out to be pretty accurate! 7 is the cut-off for transfusing. So, she's above the hatch marks on the stick now to continue the automotive analogy. They took the tube out of her stomach. And, she's resting. I'm going back in once the GI consult comes in. I'll post more news when I have it.

  8. Holy Moly!! Thank-you, Demetrius!!! Please tell Renee: Prayers ensuing!!!

    This happened to post on YESTERDAY'S thread instead of today's, but rest assured I will repost your messages over on today's thread too.

    We'll all be pulling for you BOTH! Sending love, healing vibes and many prayers for wisdom for Renee's doctors and some sort of interior calm for both of you in the midst of worries over finances as well as health. {{{ ♥ Massive HUGS! ♥ }}}
