Never Forget

My mother died ten years ago today. It was a shock and we were sad, but I'm glad she missed 9/11 that year, by just about a month.

I'm almost 3/4 of the way done tying off the quilt and I've been at it since 3pm!
I still want to finish it tonight. Gotta get back to it!

  2. Thank you to everyone for the candles, and the encouraging words in the previous thread.

I've spent most of the evening trying to sort out some aggravating little things with PowerPoints. Earlier in the day I watched a video about personality disorders (tomorrow's topic) and jotted down notes for myself about parts of the video that might be good to show.

It's been a long time since I learned this information, and since I have primarily taught intro, I haven't really had reason to revisit it. So it's an area where I'm a bit rusty. At least the class isn't until 4.

  3. Thanks, Renee! I laughed when I read that you are studying up to teach students about personality disorders. However will you refrain from using specific examples of people in the vicinity? ;-)

Sooo, I tied the quilt for a solid 12 hours on Monday and only managed to tie off three of the four panels! Yikes, this takes heaps more time than I anticipated! But I will (WILL!) finish the quilt on Tuesday evening.

Progress report: The Bride STILL does not have her dress, and her mother's dress isn't completed yet. Allegedly the Bride's dress IS done now, but the seamstress dropped it off at the bridal shop and they're closed on Mondays. (So, the seamstress isn't present for the final fitting of a bridal gown? Hallo?) After they're home from their Sweetie-moon, we may want to make an appointment with the owner of the bridal shop to recommend a new seamstress.

Uber tired. Hobbling over under the Wing....

  4. Wow! Holding Renee, listener, and all the Wisconsin voters in the light today.

According to the weather peeps I have a 70% of rain today, but the radar's not backing them up.

  9. And here's the daily dress report....

Today both the Bride and her mother picked up their dresses and both fit fine! =Whew!= I have to wonder what those two excellent women did or said today because I got a phone call from the seamstress this morning, and she’s dropping that extra amount I was charged. Also we’ve arranged to meet at her own house tomorrow and she’ll fix my dress while I wait. She may even be able to press it there (as it was never pressed).

This might turn out okay yet. Please remember not to hold your breath. LOL!

  10. So, this afternoon, I dashed off to the eye doc to pick up my eyeglasses ~ which look great, fit great, and provide a lot more room for reading! ~ and dashed back straight to work and got there 5 minutes early. A minute later Mah*Sweetie called to say his truck wouldn't start. My coworkers held down the Bibliofort whilst I dashed the 2 miles home to pick him up. Whereat he drove me back to work and zipped off to work himself. He got there only 8 minutes late, so that's not bad, all things considered! :-)

He thinks it just needs a new battery, but we'll find out tomorrow. Always somethin'.

  11. Hey, guess what. Turns out today is not only the 10th anniversary of my Mom's death, it's also the 25th anniversary of Sweetie's father's death. What were the odds that half our parents would die on an August 9th?

Okay, off for a brief nap before I get down to tying off that last quilt panel.

I'll check back later for puddle's Wisconsin update.

I think he begins to head home tomorrow. Apparently the only bear they've encountered so far was a Grizzly.

  15. Two of the six have been called for the R's. We're ahead in three, but it's early. We *need* three. Four would be terrific. The two that have been called were expected to go for the R (incumbent).

puddle--any idea what the WI voter turnout was like?

  17. The business manager/VP at work told me about a movie on Hulu about (and by the name of) Absinthe. I got off work "early" [AKA before sundown] today and just might watch it.

As of this minute, three have been called for the GOP, two for the Dems. Dem lead in the last one, but it's still too close to call.
