  3. Oh, my, Charlie!

I came over here to post a link to this story about a woman being ordained a priest (priestess?) in the Old Catholic Church:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/24/world/europe/24milan.html?src=me&ref=world

It seems disconnected from the previous posts at first, but on reflection it is about someone's long struggle. So maybe it is on topic after all.

  4. Charlie didn't get a good expert on marijuana testing. I have seen cases that took much longer than 81 days to be cleared of THC metabolites.

  6. Given how touchy this whole matter has been, how willing his accusers are to find fault, it would have been extremely wise for Charlie to have refrained from use of marijuana. Assuming the opiates mentioned were from prescription medication, that could easily be proven; and I didn't get the impression that part was an issue, but moreso the THC.

I'm really sad about this outcome. It does sound like, all things considered, the judge was milder on Charlie than he could have been. At least he's not facing most of the time in prison.

But I do wish they could all agree (including Charlie) that were he to move out of Florida, all charges would be dropped. It's no place to live.

  7. When people want to support the ordination of women, they appeal to the Christian Scriptures which say that in Christ there is no longer male and female, slave and free, but all are one in Christ.

When people want to support not ordaining women, they appeal to the Hebrew Scriptures which speak of Eve giving the apple to Adam. In so doing, their Christianity and humanity slips a cog.

  8. Another one of those nights where I went to bed and got back up again -- too hot to sleep! Went back around nine, and slept all day. Still too warm, but I was tireder then, grin. Rain, with good solid percentages, predicted starting tomorrow and running into maybe Tuesday. Yay! Also beautifully cooler days, and temps at night in the 50's.

Well, it's only two years old, lol! What you can't see is Rick's hand that was firmly planted it the middle of my back steering me there. . . . I've always stayed away from this kind of photo op because I figure the poor guy does more of it than is sane anyways. But Rick was having none of it. . . He perceived my desire, and facilitated it. Couldn't escape. Sometimes mates is very handy. HollyJ took the pic, btw, bless her heart.

  13. Christians who look forward cite the NT. Christians who want to stop things as they are or to go backward cite the OT. It's a pity, really, because on its own terms the OT is a most interesting and sometimes revolutionary set of writings.
