Checking in--it seems I misunderstood and Job No. 1 today was still on--got there in plenty of time and enjoyed it. It is a union job (unjustified firing, company violations of contract), and I personally owe organized labor big time. It's a pleasure to help, and to work with attorneys who are on labor's side.
It sure made it physically easy to drive up to the Bay Area one day and back the next rather than up and back in one day.. Had a nice dinner with daughter and roommate last night. Daughter tells us one of her teachers has recommended her for a job! [Fingers and toes crossed--latter only if it does not cause me to stumble!]
That is such MARVELOUS news about Ally. [I looked up "MIBG Scan" on Wikipedia.] I just can't get over it. Here's to keepin' on keepin' on!
At breakfast (a surprisingly good buffet, really) at the B&B in Berkeley this morning we met two couples from Wisconsin! One out for a family get together--several family member having moved to California and nearby; the other to visit with a son in graduate school at UC.
Glad to hear you're doing better, listener.
And now to putter around the innertubes a bit before adjourning to bed. Salt Mine No. 2 (the rural hospital) this weekend.
Yesterday a woman called me from CA. I told her "sorry, wrong number". So she called back THREE MORE TIMES.
Did she think if she dialed hard enough she could *make* the number be right? Did she think I was lying to her? Does she dial with a baseball mitt on? Did she think "third (or fourth) time's the charm"?
I swear I just don't get people sometimes.
Although I must admit I have even stranger "stranger on the phone" stories that I may share someday. Whether you like it or not. ;)
Still no snow. I seem to be in the eye of the snowicane, lol! Believe me, I am *not* complaining!! Right as freezing, so the snow melt has slowed, and the river's almost back down to normal.
Still riding high on Ally's news. Hope they'll get home without problems.
Calling back once makes good sense, considering how easy it is to mis-dial -- especially when your eeyes are as bad as mine. But on that second try it makes sense to ask enough questions to determine whether you are still mis-dialing or whether the number you have is simply wrong.
Thanks for the happy Ally comments! It's so wonderful to have this to share with you!!
I find I have a little catch in my joy, my breath held, waiting in hope that no other shoe drops. But so far, so good...!
We leave for Maine tomorrow afternoon after I get out of work. Son will be here to tend Kitty. Back Monday. But no worries...I have posted photos for each day through at least Thursday. :-)
Well, Howie's sure first!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm off to bed.
I'm heading to bed as well--just stopping in here to say a quick hello on my way. Hope everyone is doing well.

Very strange: there was just a comment box at the bottom with a preview. I used it, hit preview and it disappeared.
ReplyDeleteThings that make you go "hmmmmm".
