  1. Lovely! I believe this variety is also referred to as "Jonquils"...?

    1. The daffs in Vermont must bloom later than they do here, I assume because of the colder climate. The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival starts April 1, when the daffs are past their prime. But yours are just as beautiful. -- nordy

  2. Wil and I got the latest round of Care Packages ready to mail out to the college crew! We send them to our two grands in college, the one grand in high school, our grandniece Ally Mae (who is now in college and doing well in her studies!), and VT*Grand's college bestie friend. These are the last batch of the year, as they are all facing final exams!
In addition to some chocolate (except in Ally's as she eats low-phosphorus) there's everything from popcorn to kitty cat bookmarks, and even a button to wear that looks tie dye and reads "F43.0." Here's why:

In 2015, Wil was working for GE Healthcare and was part of the team writing computer code to create the ICD (International Classification of Diseases)-10 code system used to describe categories and nuances of diseases for diagnosis and billing purposes. Because there was a hard deadline for this work, of 1 October 2015, the team was given buttons to wear with the ICD-10 code F43.0.

ICD code F43.0 is “acute stress reaction,” a short-term psychological response to a traumatic or stressful event, characterized by symptoms such as anxiety, confusion, and emotional distress that develop soon after the event and typically resolve within days or weeks.

Since they have final exams coming up, we had a similar button created for them. We hope it makes them laugh, releasing some stress, as it did for the team that created the code system!
