  4. A hidden measure in the Republican budget bill would crown Trump king -- Robert Reich
... Will the Supreme Court and lower courts hold the administration in contempt and enforce the contempt citations?

Trump and his Republican stooges in Congress apparently anticipated this. Hidden inside their Big Ugly Bill is a provision intended to block the courts from using contempt to enforce its orders. It reads:
“No court of the United States may use appropriated funds to enforce a contempt citation for failure to comply with an injunction or temporary restraining order if no security was given when the injunction or order was issued …” -- nordy

  5. Seen on an e-mail from The Bulwark:

From CBS News: The Trump administration is planning to dispatch hundreds of border agents to U.S. cities to help with interior enforcement, even though historically “CBP’s work has been mainly limited to the Mexican and Canadian borders, maritime sectors and international airports.”

  6. NPR: How an AI-generated summer reading list got published in major newspapers

Some newspapers around the country, including the Chicago Sun-Times and at least one edition of The Philadelphia Inquirer, have published a syndicated summer book list that includes made-up books by famous authors.

Chilean American novelist Isabel Allende never wrote a book called "Tidewater Dreams."
According to Victor Lim, marketing director for the Chicago Sun-Times' parent company Chicago Public Media, the list was part of licensed content provided by King Features, a unit of the publisher Hearst Newspapers. -- nordy

  7. The Court of International Trade has ruled that Trump does not have the authority to impose broad-based tarrifs on all imports from specific countries. The ruling will be appealed, of course.
