    1. I gave up reading the interview part way through; the political world Howard Dean describes is totally different from anything I have ever known. Door knockers? Like the Jehovah's Witnesses? We have had one candidate for local office come to our door, thirty-odd years ago, when we lived in the city. Most national Democrats see California as nothing more than two ATM's: one in Hollywood, and the other near Palo Alto. Back when Howard Dean was campaigning in Iowa, I wrote so many letters on his behalf that my writing hand became painful, and then numb. All for nothing, as far as I could tell. And now they are talking about Gavin Newsom as a presidential candidate? My personal opinion is that he is a seriously flawed choice; too many scandals.

    2. I didn't know one could read it. I listened to it as a podcast . . . it was nice to hear his voice again.

Dean was using the example of the Dean Campaign, when we went canvassing door to door!! The 50 State Strategy, too.

Yeah, I’m not keen Newsom either.

    3. Nobody knocks on my door because 90% of the precinct is Democrats. But I've knocked on doors not only for Dean but for Obama (in Indianapolis!), for Congressional candidates in mearby districts, and others. Does California really have no swing districts where doot-knocking could decide who goes to Congress?

    4. Damned few; Governor Schwartzenegger tried to undo gerrymandering, but was undercut.

  3. Poll: 20% of Americans support boycott of firms aligning themselves with Trump agenda [Click] "New poll also shows that a significant share of Americans will avoid companies that drop social-inclusion policies." May this be just the beginning.

    1. Last I knew, two friends from Newfoundland were still planning to attend events in the US. I wonder if that's changed.

  6. Reading about Trump wanting to renegotiate the Columbia River Treaty, [Click] I read the associated Wikipedia article. To say that it is extraordinarily complex is a terrific understatement. It gives Trump's fat fingers huge ability to cause trouble. I am pretty sure the entire Trump administration doesn't have enough functional neurons to do the job.
