Lately there has been a report of possible evidence of extinct microbial life on Mars; but life continued long enough to develop intelligence is another matter. On Earth it seems to rely upon chemical cycles enabled by plate tectonics, which in turn relies upon a massive nearby moon which gravitationally churns the Earth’s mantle. It is yet early days, but I understand that we so far have not observed any such extrasolar system. —Alan
Eldest*Grand told me tonight that she is definitely going to register before she leaves for college. She turns 18 a week or so before she leaves. I'm not sure how it work in Maine, but in Vermont she could vote when she's 17 as long as she'll be 18 by Election Day.
