  1. Ryan McBeth analyzes the attack on the Odessa Cathedral [Click] Figures that it was probably a Kaliber (or similar) cruise missile intended for a coal fired power plant outside the city.

  2. It seems that the air conditioner at this end of the house (bedrooms) is on the blink. Tomorrow I will clean the compressor screens; if that doesn't fix it I will call the A/C repair folks.

Are you able to sleep in another cool room while waiting?

    2. Oh, yes, and the weather cools off at night. I have cleaned the compressor screens, replaced the furnace filters, and await the result.

    1. The Constitution was addressed to agents of government, giving directions and advice. It would be imprudent to silence opponents and force them to conspire in secret. Calling the first ten amendments a "Bill of Rights" was a publicity ploy. That the literal minded took that at face value, likely made the adoption process easier. Ditto for calling civic duties "rights."

    1. So, Pence (and the other Repugnants) wants to do away with measures that mitigate Climate Control and increase use of fossil fuels. I said this to Wil and he said, "I hope another fly lands on his head." As for me, I'm rooting for a bee.

    2. Pence, after all, owned a number of gas stations. The EPA complaining about leaking fuel tanks was such a nuisance to "small business." We had two hundred years of Congress promoting "free enterprise" and then, all of a sudden women insisted businessmen clean up after themselves.

  8. 91° predicted. Only got 83°--which still makes it the hottest day of the year, to date. And about par for predictions at this location.

  9. The air conditioner repairman arrived, discovered that there was no power to the air conditioner, which led us to check the circuit breaker, which had been thrown for no obvious reason. He checked everything else while he was at it--refrigerant pressure, fuses, voltages, etc. The AC is working and all is well. Very nice.

  10. I had been feeling tired; when I took a shower mid-day I checked my weight, which had decreased significantly; so I commenced drinking "extra" water, took a couple of salt pills, and had a second lunch plus desert (I hadn't been feeling like eating). I feel considerably better. Probably dehydration slowly sneaking up on me.

  11. These just in via politicalwire.com:

“Donald Trump is facing additional charges in the Justice Department’s classified documents investigation,” the AP reports. “The additional allegations of obstruction and willful retention of national defense information were added to the indictment Thursday by Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith’s team of prosecutors.”

A maintenance worker at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago private club has been charged by Special Counsel Jack Smith in the same criminal case against former President Donald Trump, the AP reports.
