  1. Make way for Slayer Pete. Buttigieg is the Biden campaign’s ruthless secret weapon [Click] “speak softly and carry a sling blade.” (I had to poke around the innertubes some to discover that a “sling blade” is what I knew as a “brush hook.”) “a rhetorical assassin.“

I hadn’t been paying any attention to Mayor Pete, but this is worth a read. . .

Now to bed--I will probably not be as active here in the morning as I usually am, on account of beginning my self-imposed Tuesday/Thursday 9AM to noon watercolor landscape practice.

  2. OHIO: COVID 171,626 cases and 5,017 deaths.

And my obnoxious neighbor is mowing his grass FOR THE THIRD DAY IN A ROW! I think he has issues.

    1. Maybe he has some sort of problem with the grass roots? [He ducks]

  3. Items from politicalwire.com:

The Austin American Statesman reports that out the more than 850,000 eligible voters in Travis county, 97% of them are registered to vote in the November 3 general election. Only 97%? Not even 150%?

There’s no better proof that Donald Trump is on defense in the presidential race than his campaign scheduling a rally in Macon, Georgia later this week.
Joe Biden is just ahead in the state’s FiveThirtyEight polling average.

Reports show more than 8 million early votes (in person plus absentee) have been cast so far, compared to 3 million total early and absentee votes in 2016 . (I verified the 2016 numbers, they were obviously misquoted at politicalwire.com)

  5. Sunday evening, when I posted on Facebook to say I'd voted and my ballot would be going out in the next day's mail, I forgot that Monday was a federal holiday. My ballot, together with Mum's and Sis' went out today.

We had a ballot question on rank choice voting. To my disgust, both Mum and Sis said it was the stupidest thing they'd ever heard of, even though 1) Sis had no concept what it is and 2) I've been trying to explain it to her for years. Even showed her the Muppets' explanation. *sigh* What can you do when a person does not want to look or listen or learn?

    1. The Muppets' explanation of ranked choice voting? THE MUPPETS' EXPLANATION OF RANKED CHOICE VOTING? I must see that. A quick trip to the store, dinner and walk may intervene, though.

    1. American news media have a very long history of partisanship, often frankly rabid. [Click] What we are seeing nowadays may be more of a reversion to form [often in new formats] than anything else.

  7. Full article about that Opinium/Guardian poll [Click] I’d say that 57:40 in Biden’s favor isn’t too bad at this stage of the game, but can’t we improve on that a bit?

  8. First Lady Unseen as Trump Restarts Campaign [Click] Uncharitable fellow that I am, it occurs to me that this would be the best time for her to start the divorce proceedings, before he loses any of the pending civil suits, and before his creditors come looking for that 400 and some odd million dollars in loans that come due during the next several years. Of course it is possible she is on a ventilator somewhere or other. Remember the ICU in the White House basement in Dave?

Which of course means that they ARE running out of money.

At 6:33 pm EDT October 13th, 2020, we have:
Trump Campaign Nearly Went Broke [Click] “They don’t have enough money to close out the race.” From what they were saying around the time Parscale was carted off to the looney bin, it sounds like he was running the campaign just the way Trump runs his businesses.
