Pumpkin T. Cat

This gorgeous kitty has been coming through our yard a lot all Winter.  Recently, we learned that his owner died, after a year or so with dementia.  Then we learned that he escaped her care when he was a kitten and has been fending for himself most of his life.  He is, nevertheless, sweet; just a bit skittish.  We learned all of this through inquiring on our local Front Porch Forum, and hearing from the son of his former owner.  He thought the kitty was long gone or dead and feels terribly that the kitty was out all Winter. But he has two cats and can't take him in.  Happily, a person here in town wants him.  Her two elderly kitties recently died (aged 19 years!) and she is prepared to take this fellow for his first ever vet visit. That is, once we "catch" him.  Wil and I have been feeding him the last few days and he seems to like the arrangement.  We want to gain his trust, capture him nicely, and get him to his new home. Wish us luck! 🍀

    1. Good luck! And with the later vet trip. We've never even tried to take Miss Kitty to the vet. She's been once before, thanks to Oak Park's spay and release program, and we suspect that has given her a poor opinion of bets.

    2. How does Miss Kitty get her rabies shots? (Here they are required.) Do you have a vet who comes to the house, as we do?

  2. Poor kitty! Hope you can capture him. The two we rescued in mid-December are *still* staying far away from us.

It's really just weak bleach, or looked at another way, an aqueous solution of chlorine. Claiming it is harmless is quackery. Granted that in acid solution chlorine is not very soluble.

So, it's not safe to use as a sanatizer?

Should I remove the post from my FB group? Will people injure themselves using this stuff?

    1. I think you should; and there is always the possibility that people will at least do themselves harm by not using safe remedies. Someone is probably going to mix acid with bleach to make hypochlorous acid and die of chlorine poisoning. As memory serves me that was what took out the left end of the Allied line at Ypres at least once, maybe twice.

  9. Trump says he’s taking hydroxychloroquine against Covid-19 for a couple of weeks despite FDA warnings [Click] Well, maybe true, or maybe not. No word on whether he is taking Lysol intravenously or by enema; likewise no information about his internal UV light treatments.

    1. Ha ha ha ha. I hope he IS taking hydroxychloroquine! I hope it stops his stupid heart. We probably wouldn't be that lucky.

    2. May God forgive me, but I fervently hope he has the same outcome as the majority of the veterans the junk was tested on, and soon!

    1. I knew abut her cancer, as she let me know in February in confidence. But oh my goodness, I had not heard that Jo had died and I didn't know she would die so soon...! I thought of her yesterday and was going to check in with her this week. I am so sad!!

  12. Excerpted from behind a paywall:

Final turnout data from South Carolina primary election just released. Data consistent with recent polls showing college educated white voters in suburbs of major SC cities are fleeing the Republican Party. Could be the beginning of a realignment. Stay tuned.

  14. Kitty has begun to trust me a little more. He has let me near him a few times, and sniffed the end of my finger. But when I reach out to give him a rub he greatly flinches, so that hasn't happened yet. But he has seen me feed him a few times, and he came by tonight and rolled onto his back, belly up, on the other side of the porch screen from me. Progress!

I think I am going to feel SO badly when we have to trap him. He'll feel so betrayed! He'll be taken to the vet and neutered, given shots and kept in a cage. I hate the thought of having to traumatise him to get him a decent life.
