  1. Bernie in Dearborn [Click] lots of good lead-in speakers, but there is no way to judge the size of the crowd.

Bernie in Phoenix [Click] A big crowd.

Bernie in Detroit [Click] Rashida Tlaib warm-up; good sized crowd.

I made the mistake of looking at the polls, and they don't look good in Michigan. But they didn't look good four years ago, and Bernie won.

Trump Flouts Advice of Medical Experts
March 9, 2020 By Taegan Goddard

“President Trump landed in Orlando on Monday morning for a fundraiser — and proceeded to ignore public health professionals’ advice that older Americans should limit person-to-person contact,” the Washington Post reports. “As he made his way off Air Force One and toward the presidential motorcade, Trump greeted supporters gathered on the tarmac, shaking hands with many of them.”

  4. Nursing Home Hit by Coronavirus Says 70 Workers Are Sick [Click] I think the latest figure I have read was 14 dead from that nursing home.

This nursing home is at the center of Washington's coronavirus. Here's what one first responder saw there. [Click] Nothing particularly surprising to me… That’s probably about all that MedicAid will cover.

  5. Frank Bruni, NYT March 7th: Bernie Sanders Has Already Won the Democratic Primary [Click] “He set the tone, determined the issues and tugged the party toward him.” If Frank Bruni is saying this kind of thing, it must have very widespread currency.

Now to get moving. But not too much, mind you.

  8. So the number of CoVid-19 cases in Illinois is now 11. Prompting a disaster declaration from the governor. I've been comparing this to Y2K, but it's going well beyond what we saw then.

  9. Press briefing imminent.
NPR: Several people who were at CPAC are now self-quarantining including two Congressmen who were on Air Force One with DT today.

    1. Two congresscritters on AF1? That is just too rich! Do we know how the person at CPAC became infected?

    2. I haven’t heard.

Turns out only Matt Gaetz was on the plane. Doug Collins of Georgia shook hands with DT when the President visited the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta last week. (Poetic justice, no?)

    3. Two other R Congress members (Paul Gosar of AZ and Sen Ted Cruz of TX) are self quarantining, and a fifth (Louie Gohmert of TX) who was also in proximity says he’s not going to self-quarantine.

    4. “In a separate development, Democratic Rep. Julia Brownley of California also announced that she was closing her Washington office for the week and would be "self-monitoring and maintaining social distancing practices" as will her Washington staff, after interacting with an individual with the coronavirus last week.“ ~ CNN

    5. Turns out the person infected with COVID-19 at CPAC is now hospitalized.
“Though the group said the person did not come into contact with President Trump at the event, ACU Chairman Matt Schlapp later said that he had interacted with the individual before shaking the president's hand.” ~ The Hill

    6. On hearing that both Pres. and Veep have most likely been exposed, I had a brief but oh so lovely fantasy of Pres. Palosi. Ah well, a girl can dream.

    7. Not having heard about Pence AND Trump potentially having been exposed, I thought that was too unlikely--but if it isn't, the dream is alive!

(Doesn’t bode well for the Boston Marathon next month.)

  11. Left a comment on the last thread.

Our high reached 73 degrees today. Tomorrow is forecast to be rather cooler, only getting up to 58.

PT eval went well, though at Dad's request we're going to postpone going in for regular twice weekly sessions till the Thirtieth.

Over the weekend I've been reading, and this evening finished, Catalyst: A Tale of the Barque Cats by Anne McCaffrey and Elizabeth Ann Scarborough. It ended with a cliffhanger. Got to check if there is a sequel.

  12. Naomi and watched the new Pixar movie, Upward today. It was the 1PM showing, so we almost had the theater to ourselves. Highly recommended; in fact, I am tempted to see it a second time. Basic hero/quest and coming of age tale, with social effects of success thrown in and of course very good animation. Maybe not for extremely young children, but primary schoolers and up should be just fine IMO.
