We got a little snow...

2" of icy snow + 3/8" ice layer + 16" soft snow = 18 3/8" of snow and ice,
followed by -12ºF, wind ENE 4 mph, so felt like -24ºF

  2. I remember snow. It used to happen here too. Not so much now.

    1. I just heard on NPR that both the Sanders and the Buttigieg campaigns have filed to get the questionable caucuses retallied.

    2. Also the Warren campaign, I heard. But the problem is that not only the caucus chair and secretary but representatives of the different campaigns certified the tallies and math as accurate. Apparently the only legal way to get them changed is to actually count the preference cards that caucusgoers filled out. But there are widespread reports that some caucusgoers didn't bother to turn in their cards.

    3. Wow, that's ridiculous and incredibly short-sighted!

    4. There's a reason older cartoonists depicted the law with ass's ears. But the bottom line is that caucus leaders and campaign representatives should have been more careful before signing a legal document attesting to certain facts.

  4. The top headline in today's Tribune was about the primary challenges to Reps. Bobby Rush and Danny Davis (my Congressman). And a few days ago Mayor Lightfoot endorsed primary challenger Marie Newman against Rep. Dan Lipinski.

  5. Hi guys. A whole lot of nothin' going on at my house, unless you count researching a trivia question on the Chinese room thought experiment, which has been turned in.

Both Quo Vadis and Frank Sheed's translation of The Confessions of St. Augustine have proven too much for me to handle. Over the weekend I read Agatha Christie's The Man in the Brown Suit and last night I picked up The Flight of the Falcon by Daphne du Maurier. The first is a romp. The second, though more serious, is holding my attention, which has a lot to be said for it.

We still have not filled out our ballots! Either Sis isn't feeling up to it, or she can't make up her mind, or she is sleeping. It's a terrible thing to say, but I do not trust my mother to fill out my ballot in accordance with my wishes. I'd ask Dad, but his hands are awfully shaky, besides which the candidates are not listed in alphabetical order, so it's difficult to find who you want. I'm going to have to put my foot down soon; getting anxious. We do not have postage paid return mail for our ballots. Can you believe each one costs 80 cents to mail!

BTW it's very frustrating! No matter where I look or what table I consult, the purported ASCII code for the cent sign doesn't work here on Blogger. It shows the ampersand, followed by the number, followed by the semicolon. ARG!

    1. Cat, as regards the cents symbol, your best bet might be "copy and paste."

You have time to fill out your ballots, but I sure do understand the frustration of waiting! I am eager to vote for Bernie again! I surely do hope he get a decent lead in NH.

Well Cat, if it's any comfort, Augustine wrote his books around 400 CE(AD) and wrote them to priests in Hippo. So it was assumed one had a theological degree before reading!
