The American Cardinal chick eggs hatched on Saturday!

We noticed that the male was feeding the female, as happens when they have chicks.
So when she was briefly off the nest, I slipped outside to the bush, stuck my hand through the Rhododendron blossoms, aimed my iPhone toward the nest I couldn't see, and got lucky!
Then I got out of there fast.

    2. Thanks to whomever deleted the questionable links!! Cat? puddle?

Today was my peer meeting in NH, so I was on the road for over 5 hours of the day...during a Severe Thunderstorm Watch. Just 15 minutes of light rain on the way down and 1 minute of sprinkles on the way back.

    2. I wonder why your post disappeared...though it happens to us all at times. Coincidence? Hmmm.

  4. We had problems with the kitchen sink faucet; a leak had developed in the braided wire hose for the pullout hand sprayer gizmo. No way was any hardware store going to carry the part, so I called the manufacturer (Moen). I had kept the box, so I could give them the model number; I doubt I registered it, but the rep asked me for a number from the box and they promptly sent us a replacement part for free. I got it installed today--it had a quick-disconnect fitting of a sort I had never encountered before, but figured it out easily enough. All good now; they really seem to honor their lifetime warranty. Replacing a part sure beats replacing the whole blessed thing.

    1. That's great, Alan. If only more products were designed to be repaired, and more companies had, much less honored, lifetime guarantees.

On a similar tack: Sis told me some months back that L.L. Bean would soon be doing away with their long standing lifetime guarantee policy; though she thought they would maintain a one year guarantee. Seems people have been buying and deliberately abusing products and then putting in for the return and replacement. I can't conceive of such a thing but there, apparently, it is.

    2. What actually happened, Cat, is that kind Papa Bean passed away and his kidlets inherited the store...and they’re Trump supporters.

  5. On another and far less pleasant note, I discovered today that the Abraham Lincoln carrier group is stationed in the Arabian Sea, not the Persian Gulf. Much safer, but Iranian submarines operate there too.
