  3. Roger Stone was arrested by the FBI early this morning. That's the kind of Friday I like!

    1. Mueller does seem to favour Fridays.

There's one coming that will probably be named Good Friday, or better (since the original has vastly different meaning): Most Wonderful Friday Ever. ;-)

Speaker Pelosi: “It is very interesting to see the kinds of people that the president of the United States has surrounded himself with.”

Roger Stone appeared disheveled, wearing jeans and a polo and shackled around his waist and ankles when he made a brief appearance in federal court in Fort Lauderdale, FL, CNN reports.

There’s more, but that’s enough to add savor to the morning.

    1. Who alerted CNN to be there? Well, let's see. They're newsmen so, you see, they were covering a news story. That's how it works, idiot, er, Mr. President.

  5. As for coyotes et al being treated better than somebody or other unspecified, certainly very large numbers of federal employees are not being treated better than Roger Stone; he gets three hots and a flop, clean clothing and health care all for FREE--no need to go to the food bank.

  7. When DT figures out that there is no way he's going to be reelected (most of his senior campaign staff has been arrested), maybe he'll resign. Meanwhile, someone needs to point out to him that the word resign contains an "s".

    1. I hadn't noticed that spelling error, but I don't follow DT's tweets carefully. Is that where it occurs, and does it happen repeatedly? And come to think of it, DT's is short for delirium tremens...

Today it’s Stone. Trump is next. Get on the record for impeachment this year.

    Cat —

This morning, the FBI arrested another Trump adviser, Roger Stone, on seven counts of lying and witness tampering — to hide the Trump campaign’s collusion with Russia.

This indictment is further proof that Mr. Trump’s campaign betrayed our country for his own political gain.

Congress has more than enough evidence to begin impeachment proceedings, and we demand they hold this entire corrupt administration accountable. Share the petition to impeach this criminal president with three of your friends to amplify our message to Congress.

Congress can’t continue to outsource its job to the Special Counsel and federal prosecutors. Investigations into Mr. Trump’s campaign have now led to 37 indictments and 199 criminal charges — our representatives must act immediately to protect our country from further damage by starting the impeachment process.

If all 7 million supporters of this community stand together and make our message heard, we can remove this criminal president from office this year. Forward our petition to three of your friends, so they can help strengthen this movement to impeach.

Thank you for standing with us,
    Tom

  10. We got 2" of snow overnight. Just as I went outside to shovel, the wind gusts picked up. When I was nearly done we got a little snow squall. I couldn't help feeling that Mother Nature does not want my driveway cleared. LOL! To be fair, we also had peeks of sun and episodes of blue sky.

  11. From the inbox:

Big news. Roger Stone — longtime confidant of Donald Trump and self-described “dirty trickster” — was arrested this morning by the FBI on charges of obstruction, false testimony, and witness tampering in the Trump-Russia investigation.

We knew another shoe would drop after last week’s report that Trump asked Cohen to lie to Congress, but we didn’t expect it this soon. It’s now more important than ever that Congress pass emergency legislation to protect Mueller and his investigation from any backlash.

Add your name to our emergency petition: demand that the U.S. Senate immediately pass a bill to block Trump from firing Mueller or tampering with the investigation.

    Add your name [Click]

The indictment against Roger Stone alleges that:

    He had a backchannel with Wikileaks and was coordinating with Trump about how to take advantage of their stolen DNC documents;
    He lied repeatedly to Congress about his involvement in the Trump/Russia crimes;
He even threatened to kill a reporter if he testified against him in Congress.

And that’s just what we know so far. Mueller has already indicted three dozen people tied to the Trump/Russia crimes, and there’s certainly more to come.

If the Senate continues to refuse to protect Mueller, and Trump DOES fire him, we’ll need to be ready to hit the streets. Can you make a $3 donation and help us prepare to counter-protest in the event that Trump fires Mueller?

Thank you for everything. We’ll keep you posted if we hear anything new about this story.

    In solidarity,
    The Common Defense team

    1. Indeed! The other half of that is that it was Stone who, four years ago, came up with the idea for DT to build a wall.

CNN reported "He didn't get a wall, he got a cave." LOL!

Roger Stone’s Time In the Barrel
January 25, 2019 By Taegan Goddard

John Podesta: “Despite my Italian roots, vengeance doesn’t run deep in my veins. But I admit I smiled when Roger Stone’s arrest was announced Friday morning.”

“To give some context: On Oct. 7, 2016, WikiLeaks began leaking emails from my personal inbox that had been hacked by Russian intelligence operatives. A few days earlier, Stone — a longtime Republican operative and close confidant of then-candidate Donald Trump — had mysteriously predicted that the organization would reveal damaging information about the Clinton campaign. And weeks before that, he’d even tweeted: ‘Trust me, it will soon be Podesta’s time in the barrel.'”

“Stone’s connection with and boasting about WikiLeaks during the campaign has always been fishy. But thanks to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s investigation, the truth is finally coming out.”

    Trump’s Retreat Bewilders Allies
January 25, 2019 By Taegan Goddard

A former White House official tells Politico that President Trump’s core supporters and former aides are “furious” and “melting down.”

“Bewildered by his decision to accept a deal without funding for a wall on the southern border — not even the ‘down payment’ the White House had requested a day earlier — some of his most loyal supporters fretted that Trump was in danger of losing his fervent base that has fueled his presidency.”

Said another former White House aide: “He allowed 35 days of chaos and hurt all for nothing.”

Meanwhile, the Washington Post reports Fox Business host Lou Dobbs, who described himself as an “an animated, energetic supporter of this president,” conceded that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) “has just whipped the president of the United States.”
