14: For Postcards to Possible Voters...

  1. “Choose your leaders with wisdom and forethought.
To be led by a coward is to be controlled by all that the coward fears.
To be led by a fool is to be led by the opportunists who control the fool.
To be led by a thief is to offer up your most precious treasures to be stolen.
To be led by a liar is to ask to be told lies.
To be led by a tyrant is to sell yourself and those you love into slavery.”

― Octavia E. Butler, Parable of the Talents

Felt the need to share this again since so many ignored it in 2016. Hopefully more have been awakened by now.

  2. My youngest son was never very interested in politics until this hell we're all living through. Both of our absentee ballots are in and will be counted. Both straight blue all the way. He's young enough that I had to explain the difference between blue dog democrats and yellow dog democrats.

    1. That calls to mind my quandary about how to decide how to vote if confronted with a choice between a Demopublican and a Republicrat. I finally settled on the former, on the principle that a publican ought to be a good deal more congenial than a rat.

  3. I see that Dear Leader now thinks Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman was involved in the assassination of Mr. Khashoggi. I happened to see the video clip on NHK, and the body language was very striking; his arms were crossed firmly over his chest, and he otherwise looked upset--the very image of someone feeling he is under attack/threat.

I also note that Trump's tariffs are causing Japan and China to mend their relationship in mutual self defense.
