From the article (and a point I heartily agree with):

During the Obama presidency, the Democratic Party showed unabashed support for Obama’s attachment to the policies of the Bush administration that came before him. Whether it was Wall Street bailouts, immigration policy or the “war on terror,” when there was an opportunity to end the unacceptable, it was squandered instead. The Democrats excused their strengthening of Bush-era policy by wrapping atrocity in nicer language. President Obama always made sure to emphasize his record-level deportation apparatus was focusing on “criminals,” as if criminals should have less rights by default; President Trump entered the White House echoing this idea.

  3. I'm pretty dense, but it has finally gotten through to me. Trump's fan base do not see him as POTUS, they see him as a television star. Looked at in that way,, everything about him makes sense: larger than life, brash, outrageous, insulting in the manner of one brand of standup comedians. Even his sexual excesses make sense viewed in this light. And this would explain the responses he gets at his rallies, with crowds screaming, cheering and wildly applauding his every word.

    1. A very good way to put it. I've been saying, re his policies and actions, "It's all about Trump." If you think of him as the TV star he used to be, it all fits.

    2. Yeah, I've heard his rallies characterized as an explosion in a moron factory.

    3. Sadly, those supporters haven't a clue what the Constitution says. Worse yet, neither does DT.

  5. So the pick is Brett Kavanaugh.

"Kavanaugh would almost certainly fall to the right of Anthony Kennedy as a Supreme Court justice, and enable a rightward shift in the Court’s jurisprudence for years or decades to come. Even more concerning for liberals, he has suggested enhancing the president’s power to block criminal and civil actions against him, a potentially worrisome position when the president nominating him is under investigation and facing multiple lawsuits."

  6. Here's a quote from Trump's Supreme Court nominee:

“Under the Constitution, the President may decline to enforce a statute that regulates private individuals when the President deems the statute unconstitutional, even if a court has held or would hold the statute constitutional.” - Brett Kavanaugh

    1. Egads! We need to start posting copies of the Constitution everywhere and set up booths with tutorials!

  7. If we can't keep Kavanaugh off the Court our only hope will be to elect a Democratic President. Because the Constitution DOES NOT specify nine Justices for the Court. A new - sane - president could appoint several more seats making an odd number and we could do our *own* packing with legal minds who know and honor the Constitution. Because if Cheetolini gets his way, gets his guy on the court and escapes all consequences of his actions we *will* have a civil uprising.

    1. It's important to note that FDR tried this and Congress refused to go along.

    2. As I recall (from reading, not personal memory!) the threat did make the Supreme Court justices somewhat more cooperative.

    3. And we've also seen a "president" who has demonstrated nothing but incompetence, willful destruction and blind hatred throughout his "term". That may have its effect also.
