  1. What the Fork?

Trump seeks to save Chinese jobs at ZTE ahead of trade talks [Click]
"US President Donald Trump has said he wants to help save ZTE, one of China's biggest telecoms companies.
The firm has suspended operations after the Commerce Department last month banned US companies from selling it components for seven years.
ZTE pleaded guilty to making illegal shipments to Iran and North Korea.
Mr Trump tweeted that he was working with President Xi to ensure ZTE would get back into business fast, saying too many jobs in China were at risk."

I think I said here the other day that when Trump meets Kim Jong Un, the latter will probably sell him a dog and convince him it's a pony. It seems it has already happened, and the popular press also thinks it's a pony. The North Korean nuclear test site was evidently wrecked by the most recent test--rendered permanently unusable, it is said. So now they are sealing it, selling that as a positive gesture and a sign of suspending their nuclear weapons development program. Choice, really choice.

    1. I saw both these news items, and found the first jaw-dropping and the second worthy of a cynical shrug. It occurs to me that the reason Trump is not currently resident in a nice, comfortable insane asylum is that no reputable establishment of that sort would take him.

One seems to recall his loud protestations that the reason he withdrew the U.S. from the Paris accords is because he campaigned on bringing jobs back to Pittsburgh, not Paris. Now, though, he seems to think it incumbent upon him to save Chinese jobs. If you wrote a play about all this and tried to pitch it, every producer would laugh in your face, even if you claimed it was a farce. The whole thing would be laughable...if it weren't so tragic.

  2. Don't want to jump up and down, waving my arms in ecstasy, for fear of attracting the attention of the Internet gremlins. But, it would appear that I'm back in business - thank goodness! Abandoned Fire Fox, whether for good and all remains to be seen, in favor of Sea Monkey. And there was much exaltation, not to mention relief!

  3. Thanks so much for the links on the last thread, Puddle. I already take evening primrose oil, though on the whole it would, I've discovered, be better to take a second capsule in the evening rather than just the one in the morning. So it won't be difficult to add flax seed and/or fish oil, providing they also come in capsules. I don't do well with pouring, much less measuring. That sounds very promising.

Bill, your suggestion of a glass of sherry sounds most genteel and would no doubt work a treat. Unfortunately, it's a bit impractical, owing to my difficulty holding glasses. Somehow sherry wouldn't be the same sipped through a straw. *wry grin* It's a pity. I rather like the idea of sipping a glass of sherry of an afternoon or evening.
