    1. Bannon is so scruffy and weird I didn't give him that much credit for brains. But refusing to testify to Congress is actually pretty smart since their main goal is to muddy the waters and derail the investigation. Some suggested that Congress was hoping to get a lead on what Bannon would tell Mueller so they could inform the White House. What a cruddy bunch we have in government right now, yes?

    2. I certainly did enjoy that! I hope with all my heart that it's true that SB is going to tell all to Mueller. But why would he?

  2. I’m not sure whether to file this under “Heavens to Betsy,” “Holy Murgatroid,” or”Uppity is as uppity does.” Maybe “Holy Shinola?” Unprecedented, in any event!

  3. Blogspot ate what I posted last night, so here is is again with updates.

I am home safe but not sound. The last couple of day in Boston I developed a severe rash on my lower leg. At first I suspected it was a recurrence of the psoriasis that had been in complete remission for many years, but now I'm not so sure. Last night there were HUGE blisters, which I don't recall a typical of the previous psoriasis. The blisters are all broken today, which makes things less painful. Perhaps especially walking. I am no longer taking Tylenol and feel able to go downstairs as needed, no longer relying on Penny to bring everything up to me. I am currently treating it with fluocinolide ointment left over from the psoriasis treatment. Let's hope that works. Otherwise it's off the the doctor.

    1. Good heavens, Bill! I suppose that fluocinolide is an immunosuppressant of some sort; if that is the wrong treatment you should know in a hurry. (Over the years I've had a couple of doctors guess wrong that way.) That sure doesn't ring any bells with me; huge blisters, localized? Very strange. Atypical shingles comes to mind, but that seems far-fetched, especially since the pain seems to be simply from stretching of the skin by the blisters. Get well soon!

    2. Heavens to Betsy!!

I thought of shingles too, as it *can* run down a leg along a nerve path. Does it have a burning sensation when brushed lightly?

Or is there any chance you brushed against some poison ivy, oak or sumac? The plants die down in Winter but are not dormant. Did an outdoor dog or cat rub against your leg? It does sound like a severe contact rash of some sort, if not shingles.

If it is shingles, though, you'll want to request an anti-viral like acyclovir or famciclovir, as it will knock it back very quickly!

    3. And, shingles can leave you with nerve pain that lasts a couple of years. But when the antiviral knocks it back fast, it doesn't jangle the nerves long-term so much.

[Sorry, Susan, for mentioning that dread illness. How are you these days?]

    4. Alan -- yes, fluocinolide is a steroid, so an immunosuppressant.

listener -- no relation to a nerve path. It's a bit patchy but otherwise generalized. It does sound a bit like contact dermatitis, but not only was my leg covered by both pants and over-the-calf socks but I was only outside for a couple of city blocks between the two hotels. No obvious way to pick up anything.

    5. I thought of bullous impetigo or some such thing, but had the same thought--probably not much chance of a staph exposure, and if you had scraped your leg you would have been aware of it and made the connection. Well, keep us posted.; it sounds like it has, ahem, potential, and we want you well as soon as possible.

    1. I thought you were advising us against voting for the political party, and was about to tell you we won't have that choice here--we may not even have a Democrat on the general election ballot in this area.

Dems Aim To Score Another Big Special Election Upset Deep In Trump Territory[Click] “After a shocking win in a rural Wisconsin senate race Tuesday, Democrats are feeling increasingly bullish they can win another target deep in Trump territory, flip their first House seat since Trump’s 2016 victory and strike fear into the hearts of Republicans across the country.” Sounds good to me. From Wikipedia:
Phobos (Ancient Greek: Φόβος, pronounced [pʰóbos], meaning "fear") is the personification of fear in Greek mythology. He is the offspring of Aphrodite and Ares. He was known for accompanying Ares into battle along with the ancient war goddess Enyo, the goddess of discord Eris (both sisters of Ares), and Phobos' twin brother Deimos (terror).
