New Emoji!

I like the new Colbert emoji...one raised eyebrow.
I feel like that a lot lately...
especially when the news comes on...!

  1. Has Flynn already flipped?

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) speculated over the summer that Flynn had already flipped:

All the signals are suggesting he is already cooperating with the FBI, and may have been for some time. First of all, they had him dead to rights on a felony false statement, on the statement they took from him at the White House on the Kislyak conversations. Second, Comey reported that one of the things the FBI does with cooperators is get them to go back and clean up areas of non-compliance. Flynn, who will never be hired by a foreign government again, went back and cleaned up his foreign agent filings. Third, all of the reporting of the Eastern District of VA on subpoenas is one hop away from Flynn. He is the hole in a donut of subpoenas.

One of the most talkative people in Trumpland, Flynn has gone absolutely silent. That is exactly what a prosecutor would strongly encourage a cooperating witness to do… in order to avoid lengthy imprisonment.

Up early Sunday to catch the 0618 train to Marysville for the job I have at Beale AFB. Nearly recovered from my nasty cold. I wonder if recovery has been faster because I stopped taking coffee shortly before, hoping that it would relieve my continuing cough from the dreaded post-nasal drip. The stuff I have been hacking up has been much thinner than usual. I have also for several days given myself a double dose of that herbal nasal spray.

    1. Verrrrry innnnteresting about Flynn!

I'm so glad to hear that you are on the upswing, Alan. My usual mode is to make myself as comfortable as possible so that I can rest a lot until whatever bug is bugging me has run itself out.

  2. I find myself idly musing:

First, let me be clear that I don't think there is any realistic chance that we will get rid of Trump before 2020. But it's a given that we will have a new president in 2021. What I find myself wondering about is whether Trump will be defeated in the general election or the Republican primary.

It's important to note that Trump didn't win anything like a majority of the 2016 Republican primary votes. Many of the Republican primaries, unlike the Democratic primaries, were winner-take-all or winner-take most. And with the anti-Trump vote split so many ways, Trump was able to come in first and take most or all of the delegates with a minority of the vote. If someone contests the primary and Trump gets no more of the primary vote than he did before, his opponent (singular) is the Republican candidate.

Of course, it's not at all obvious just who that opponent might be. And it's not clear whether the incumbent factor would seriously help Trump, although we know a lot of Republicans really don't like him. So this is all pure speculation at the moment.

Good point. Though I sincerely hope DT is ousted before 2020. I don't think I can stand this day to day craziness that long.

  3. Phooey. The court martial I was all ready for has been cancelled. My co-workers will be pleased, and I need not finish packing my bag. I had been studying the report of investigation, and my adrenalin was starting to rise, as it typically does.

    2. It is unfortunate in the extreme; I am not at liberty to say more.
