  1. ๐Ÿ’–Susan is First!! ๐Ÿ’–

Susan, turns out it WAS there, but I hadn't seen it yet. I see it arrived on Holy Saturday, so I probably missed it while at the Easter Vigil, with family around that Sunday, and son running the Marathon that Monday. It's amazing how fast a message gets pushed down on the list. Of course, it probably doesn't help that I currently have 6753 messages in my Inbox! Ha! Anyway! Here it is at last!! Thanks for asking!!! ๐Ÿ’–

    1. I have 31,666 that are *officially unread.* That doesn't count all those I have either deleted or shuffled into sub-folders (politics, parade, science fiction, etc.) without actually reading them. I'm hoping to get some of that cleaned up while I'm not actually working.

  2. Did you hear that Jimmy Kimmel and his wife welcomed a new baby on April 21st? Scary. Here's his emotional story (good ending).

  3. We watched the radar as a long line of intense thunderstorms made their way across New York and across Lake Champlain. Wow! Then the storms broke up as they got to our area. So lucky!! We had stuffed the car and new unplanted Forsythia into the garage and needn't have worried after all.

    1. Welcome back, puddle!! ๐Ÿ’– You have been sorely missed!!

I haven't been having difficulty with communication, travel and whatnot, so I don't take much stock in the Mercury Retrograde theory. It only looks like Mercury is traveling backwards, anyways. Hmmm. I wonder what would happen if it really did travel backwards! Now that would be Opposites Day! ๐Ÿ™ƒ

  5. Be very proud of me!!

I just googled a How-to, got into Applications and opened Utilities, then opened a Terminal window. Then, using a recommended line of code, I disabled the annoying Photos.app on my Mac so it won’t keep popping up all the time.

    *I* just used Software!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
    Whoo hoo!!

It was kind of a “What would Youngest do?” moment.
    High Five! ๐Ÿ–

For anyone else who'd like to disable the Photos.app on their Mac, here's how:

Go to Finder and double click on Applications.
Scroll down and double-click on Utilities.
Double-click on Terminal, which will open a terminal window.
Copy and paste this line at the prompt:

defaults -currentHost write com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug -bool YES

Then press Return. You won’t get any feedback–it’ll just start with a new, blank prompt on the next line–but that should stop the Photos app completely.

If you decide later that you want to revert back to the default behavior, simply use this line to switch back:

defaults -currentHost write com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug -bool NO

    1. Can't say as I have ever had that problem, listener--but my OS version is out of date. (That fits, doesn't it?) It has been a long time since I did anything like that, but I remember the sense of accomplishment when I succeeded. Good work!

  6. Got back from Odysseycon this afternoon, then headed for the parade committee meeting two hours later. The con was fun and interesting. Unusually for a SF con, one panel had a (retired?) Brig. General who used to be part of the Washington inner circle explaining how laws actually get written.

And since the two people I was with are major beer nuts (hmm. is that a pun?) and Madison is celebrating Craft Beer Week, I had more different kinds of beer than was good for me. I came home with a six-pack of Great Dane Scotch Ale, which will unfortunately not last the year.
