Keep On Keepin' On...

  1. Those hedges look like cypress; that was used for windbreaks where I grew up, where prevailing winds from the ocean created a need for shelter. Seeing the earlier photo of the lighthouse, I went looking for its history, and came across mention of the Nantucket lightship; one was rammed and sunk by RMS Olympic (sister ship of the Titanic) in heavy fog.

  2. What an ordeal. I got my new dental crown today. Without choice or discussion, the dentist did the deed without novacaine and YOUCH!!*!! He was aware that my roots are long and deep and I've had pain issues before. So that's strike one. As you may know, it's pricey. I was told the tooth would match my others. It doesn't. It's much lighter, and his only comment about that (to his assistant, not me, and only after my mouth was stuffed with cotton), was: "Well, maybe she'll want to have her teeth whitened anyway." Hey, that's my choice, not his. He never even showed it to me in the office. It wasn't until I was home that I saw how light it is. [I've told him before that I had my teeth whitened once and they don't come out white anyway!] So I cancelled my upcoming appointment for teeth cleaning and told them I need to think about what to do going forward.

    1. Oh, you definitely need to look for another dentist! The very last thing you need is somebody doing permanent things to your teeth without consulting you. And working on you without Novocaine? That's just brutal and uncaring. See, what you should have done was kick him in the gut and told him it was just a reflex caused by the tremendous pain. - after he was done in your mouth, of course. What a horrible man!

    2. Yeah. My next door neighbour goes to this same dentist and told me: "That's a bummer to hear although I do recognize that he has behaved that way with my care too. In fact the root canal I had last week was because he damaged the nerve several years ago while numbing me for a different procedure. He has never admitted responsibility for it though."

    3. Good Lord! I'd expect far better from one of those inexpensive dental HMO's. Find someone else, even if the location is less convenient.

    4. Too bad you can't come to Chicago. I'd strongly recommend my dentist.

Does anyone really believe that with all these connections DT didn't know about any of it? If he didn't, it's irresponsible that he did such a poor job of vetting these people. I don't believe it.

    I want a do-over!

    1. Well, I think the most reasonable path forward is something that has never been tried--removal in accordance with the 25th amendment. Bear in mind that no President has ever been removed from office via impeachment, although Johnson (Lincoln's VP, not Lyndon) came REAL close. Does the federal government have a looney bin? That's the place for him, unless he turns out to actually be a foreign agent (which is what he acts like), in which case Leavenworth would seem appropriate. The Presidential Suite at Fort Monroe isn't up to modern standards, and Jefferson Davis is said to have suffered from the cold and damp there. (I'll be the food was also not very good.)
