Pres. Obama is not gone yet, and he's first and on the job. Yesterday he commuted the sentence of Chelsea Manning, sticking it to the RW. faux News was buzzing about it like a nest of angry wasps.
He's not gone yet, but there is already a big hole in my heart about his leaving.
Currently reading Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman - very funny. Reminds me a bit of Douglas Adams' books, especially HHGG. Will probably finish it tonight.
The summaries at goodreads and alibris are very promising...Alan

I am going to a Women's March here in Dayton on Saturday. First time I've taken to the streets since 2004. I HATE going downtown, but we women have to make ALL men realize we are human beings and NOT just a uterus and vagina on legs.
I honestly believe that most men do know that, and treat women well. Inaugurating Resident Twit is the real issue. I don't understand why the protest is the day AFTER the Inauguration instead of the day before (or, better, the day after the election). But I hope it makes people feel better and I hope it makes legislators take notice. I would have preferred to stop the election due to DT having a Narcissistic Personality Disorder, or at least postponing it pending an independent investigation on his relationship with Putin.
That said, Susan. you go girl! I hope you are safe and it's not too cold and you make a real difference.
It's the day after the (gag) inauguration because it's a separate issue. We've been asked not to bring any anti-trump signs as this is about women banding together to protect women's rights. It's the day after because the War on Women has primarily come from the Republicans who will now be emboldened because Cheetolini will be polluting the White House. Just today I saw that a TX Republican wants to make it a law that women who have an abortion lose their right to vote. I will not sit back and let a bunch of old white bassackward men turn us into chattel or property again. I will not let them take my daughter, my granddaughters and my sister back to the 1800's. Those men waging their War on Women need to know that we will not surrender to them and that we will make them sorry they ever started with us.
Oh, and listener, you must have a number of sterling men in your life, because my life experience has been the exact opposite.
The sooner we realize that nobody is going to step up and fight for us the better off we will be. We must fight for ourselves and each other. We cannot be weak, we cannot hold back because we are afraid. As I've often read, "WE are the ones we've been waiting for".
I have a very sweet husband who, from our high school days, was the one championing our equality. All my sons are likewise wonderful. They got it from their Dad, but he did not! He bucked his father's views and sided with his Mom's. I love this man. There are many ways to stand our ground. I believe it is a great boost for extraverted people to get together and rally. It raises their energy and promotes solidarity and courage. So in that respect I am all for it! I am very introverted and feel called to another style of being present to the situation. I feel drawn to hold still and offer deep, abiding and quiet support, holding all that is good and whole in the Light. Mine may be a quiet protest, out of the view of cameras and journalists. But I believe it can move mountains and will help sustain those who are more outward in their protest. ♥
