  1. Just noticed Snoopy is making a hand gesture in this image. I sincerely hope it is not an offensive one!!! If it is, let me know and I'll find something else. This not being able to see straight thing is a drag!

Also a drag, the schedule feature doesn't seem to work. However, I'll sort it all out eventually...probably just in time for Listener to come back. *wry grin*

    BTW Snoopy is first!

    1. Nope, Snoopy is cool. Saw it last night but can't comment from my phone. He's just making fists. Just like me.

    2. He's raising both fists in something like a weightlifter's stance. Especially in the context of TGIF, I take this as a symbol of triumph after struggle.

    3. Thanks!!! At the last moment I was assailed with terrible qualms. So glad it's OK.

  2. In SF, non-terrestrial characters sometimes taste light. We now know that nematodes do too.Could genetic engineering someday lead to totally blind people perceiving light in this way?

    1. As I read the abstract, this protein is only sensitive to UV light. That's another reason I think the artificial retinas currently being developed are a better shot. The last I heard, the already allow somebody looking at a person to distinguish the head from the body -- they may be better now.

  3. Cat, I peeked at Blogger and it looks like you are doing everything perfectly. What snag are you noticing? Are you remembering to click on "Publish" at the top of the page after you've set that date and time? Just incase, to give you more time, I clicked "Publish" on tomorrow's, so it's set to go. If you need to revise it, just click on Edit at the front of that line, and Publish when you're done. You probably know all of this, but not knowing what you are dealing with, I guessed. Been there! :-) Thanks again, resourceful one!

    1. Thanks, Listener. It's been quite a while since I used Blogger. Takes a while to get my sea legs again, so to speak.

Er...actually, I was clicking Save, thinking Publish would publish it at once even after the schedule was set. Oops! Thanks so much for the gentle reminder!

    2. You're welcome! They really ought to have the Publish button near the Schedule section. Every so often I forget and manage to immediately post something I was saving for a few days or weeks ahead. Then I have to delete and try again. I have learned, though, to Edit first and copy my text before deleting! Ha! It's an education. :-)
Feel free to send me an email or FB message any time you hit a snag or have a question.

    3. Thanks, Listener. I'll remember. Currently in the throes of setting up posts for a few days to come.

    4. Cool! The timing couldn't be better. I am currently in Jackson NH doing childcare for two of our grands during the wedding event of their Auntie. A very sweet and happy event! The grands are ages 3 and 1, so we're tired! Ha! But what a treasure they are!! :-)

  4. Here is the complete text of my letter to Senator Mitch McConnell. I'm sending one to his Washington office plus a copy to each of his six Kentucky offices.

"You have been in Congress since 1985. Therefore you should be aware that the monies in the Social Security Fund, which also pays for Medicare, are monies the people earned. This money was not a gift, nor was it government money. It belongs to us, the people who earned it.

If you do not know this you do not belong in the Senate. If you DO know this you are no better than the thief who steals our personal savings account.

If you are concerned about the solvency of the Social Security Fund perhaps you might encourage your fellow politicians to repay the three trillion dollars they "borrowed" and never repaid."

And I closed with my full name and address. Hope the letter pisses him off, because next I'm writing one on the blocking of the infrastructure bill.

    1. Technically the Medicare Trust Fund is separate from the Social Security Trust Fund, although the same principles apply. Discussions about the solvency of Social Security (and, much more urgently, Medicare) do assume the US government will pay its debts. Never mind GW Bush describing government bonds as "just paper."

    2. But the funds for Medicare are deducted from my Social Security check, so if the fund is separate why are they doing that?

    3. Ah! Two different things. Medicare recipients pay a (relatively small) premium. Most of us have that deducted from our Social Security checks, although recipients that aren't drawing Social Security still have to pay. But the money in the Trust Fund came from taxes deducted from our paychecks, just like the taxes that went into the Social Security Trust Fund. (The combined Social Security and Medicare taxes are referred to as RICA.)
