  2. Bright blue weather? Hmmm. Looks pretty gray to me. (There was a thunderstorm last night.)

  3. A storm is coming through, but no rain. Wind so strong it produced very strong whistles around the house and stirred up clouds of dust all over the area. A quarter inch of rain would be far more welcome.

Looks like the Groper's Own Party is giving away Arizona, Virginia and Pennsylvania.

    1. Ha! That's the first time I've noticed anyone (including you) describing the GOP that way. :-D

    2. I think I was moved to experiment with different meanings for the acronym "GOP" by a less kindly version suggested by Bill Maher. I welcome other suggestions.

  4. Been stunning this year how *quiet* my Utah relatives have been. Great pleasure, lol! Go McMullin!

    1. I should say that Mr. McMullin has found a need and offers a reasonably satisfactory way of filling it. I wish him well.

  5. California vote-by-mail patterns [Click] I am surprised that private parties can access information about who has voted.

    1. I've decided not to vote by mail. I'd have to fill out the request for a mail-in ballot by hand, and for me that's more trouble than going to the polls. Even leaving aside the two trips to the mailbox.

Trump At Risk of Losing Arizona [Click] “The campaign has placed few resources in the state. There are five staffers aiding Trump’s bid, paid for by a combination of the campaign, the RNC and the Arizona Republican Party.”

“I’ll take a drug test if you’ll take an IQ test.”
    — Sen. Fritz Hollings (D-SC), quoted by NPR, in 1986 when Henry McMaster (R) challenged him to a drug test.

“Donald Trump’s derogatory comments about Mexicans and his vow to build a wall along the southern U.S. border have failed to spark a surge in voter registrations among Hispanics living in key swing states,” a USA Today analysis shows.

The Omaha World-Herald endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, the first Democrat the newspaper has backed in 84 years.

“After raising $100 million in partnership with Republican Party organizations in September, Mr. Trump and committees linked to his campaign began October with $75 million in cash on hand. Mrs. Clinton raised $154 million in September and began October with roughly $150 million in the bank, her campaign said, twice as much as Mr. Trump.”

  8. That's cool about the fortune cookies, Alan.

Bill, I would also feel a little uneasy about mailing my ballot. Anything can go wrong in transit. I'd have to hand-deliver it. But I like the feeling of going to the polls to do the deed.
