    1. Yeeeaaaaahhhhh! indeed. And a touch of Hot Damn! to boot. Here's a little reading material (there are several similar columns online):

Bernie Sanders Could be the Next FDR

I am thinking of getting one of
these decals to go on my car, maybe next to my Bernie sticker. [Click]

And maybe one of the bumper stickers
      here (scroll down) [Click] too.

  2. Cat--GREAT NEWS! And the medicos get a "well done" for reporting so quickly. We're all glad.

  3. listerner--I see that your togs are color-coordinated with your ride. I had never noticed rear view mirrors with checkered paint jobs before; I shall have to keep an eye out for them on minis. And (heaven forfend), the red-and-white mini should be much easier for the ski patrol to spot in a snowdrift than the ice blue-and-white one. One can't be over-prepared! That does look like a nice shade of red. Hmmmm....I am reminded that the train Gene Debs campaigned in was popularly called "The Red Special." I don't think that was a reference to the color... And I am reminded of the scene in Doctor Zhivago where the train is sidetracked to let a one-car special pulled by a red locomotive go by; and I remember another movie that starts with a red train in the distance, moving through a snowy landscape. Yep, all good.

    1. I cannot understand how Reich AND his copy-editor allows the misspelling "shoe-in" to stand. It's "shew-in." Have today's young people never shewed a bird or animal into some place?

  5. Perusing the Google Trends data for Bernie and HRC through March 8th, I see that the results are generally pretty close. States that seem strong for Bernie are Oklahoma, Vermont (natch!), Kansas and (perhaps less strong) Maine.

I would shoo HRC away, but she will require more powerful shooing than I can muster all by myself. We'll let the farrier do the shoeing, I think. And we shall see what we are shewn, no? And now back to my work simulation.

  6. Good news from Illinois' 10th Congressional District: The Chicago Sun-Times has endorsed Nancy Rotering over former Congressman Brad Schneider. You'll recall that Rotering was the mayor who pushed through the assault weapon ban that the courts have upheld; she supports generally progressive policies throughout. Schneider is strongly pro-union but otherwise relatively conservative (for a Democrat) and opposed the Iran nuclear deal. Rotering has been endorsed by Sen. Durbin, several old-school progressive icons, and local Democratic organizations while Schneider has the backing of the DCCC.

  7. I can only say that there's them as are going to defend "shoe-in"--though the defense is nuts. To them shoe-in is same as foot in the door. Problem, shoo-in is something easy and obvious. Trying to make a sale through a closed door to the householder who's trying mightily to keep you out--seem the very opposite of easy, from where I'm standing. Had never seen shew-in before.

    1. I think I must have meant shoo-in. But my memory played tricks on me.

    2. Or maybe your computer played a trick on you by respelling what you wrote; but it's all good fun. I must admit that the vision of a farrier shoeing Ms Clinton is interesting, if a bit mean. But think how she could gallop past the competition!

    3. Have no idea why, but my sense of "shoo-in" is that it's no harder than waving an apron. . . .

  8. Alan, I am loving all your links!!! I've been sharing them even when I haven't commented on them. But you are toy be commended for keeping us up to date!

Bernie is going to be in Vermont on Super Tuesday, and is going to have a big party somewhere in Burlington…TBD. I'd be delighted to go, but I'll be counting the vote! How about breakfast the next morning with election officials? Ha!

  9. Alan, the checkered mirror caps are actually made of quality plastic, as are the solid coloured caps. There is also a checkered rear-view mirror cover, that I hope to get sometime in the coming year. Have a little fun "building" your own at miniusa.com!! The website is a hoot!

  11. Glad you like the links, listener; I do try to select good ones. On the way to work this morning I saw a Mini with a black and white version of the Union Jack on the backs of the side mirrors.

I ordered my NRA blue eagle decal, and also my "Where is the New Deal when we need it?" bumper sticker. Young folks might not recognize the blue eagle, but the bumper sticker will straighten them out. And the additions will go with my Bernie bumper sticker just fine. That's a lot of signage, but that's OK.
