Nurses' Bernie Bus [Click] I don't know if this is the same one currently roaming Iowa. Look at the "Bernie" logo on the front of the bus--ingenious!

I note that it has been a little over a week since the campaign news section of berniesanders.com has been updated.

    1. Evidently it is the same nurses' Bernie Bus. From the end of the linked page: "After Nevada, the #BernieBus will head east, with stops in Denver and Kansas City on route to Iowa for the February 1 Iowa caucuses before returning to Nevada for the February 20 caucuses."

  2. Thanks for the link on the last thread, Alan. Great article.

I love The Riddle of the Sands, having read it two or three times. The sailing aspects of the story are as fascinating as the plotline. Need to read it again.

    1. It has been called the best yachting story of all time. The black swan piece is rather nice, IMO.

  4. GLOVES UPDATE!!

The good folk in the Office at VT*Grand's school found my gloves, and, yup, they were in the Lost & Found box! LOL!

VT*Grand will give them to her Daddy (our son) tonight and he will pass them to his Dad (my husband) tomorrow.

    :-)

Seems my $8 gloves will come back to me, but the $50 gloves are still missing. Next year I'll just start with the $8 gloves. Ha!

  5. I love The Economist. They do not believe in mincing their words. Take this opening paragraph from an article on Blumburg's possible run. (emphasis added)

"A PRESIDENTIAL campaign season that is already a trifle too far-fetched for a movie script may soon get even more interesting. Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump, two men who were widely dismissed as novelty candidates when they announced their bids last year, are poised to do surpassingly well in the opening contests of the 2016 primary season. Mr Sanders and Mr Trump have narrow leads in the polls in Iowa, where voters caucus one week from today, and both are set to wallop their competitors in the New Hampshire primary on February 9th."

    Wallop! Yeah!

  6. "Wallop" is a dandy choice of word--"whack" and "smite" also come immediately to mind, but are less generally applicable.

The news section of Bernie's web site has been updated; boy, is he throwing some HARD punches now! Yahoo!

    1. I kind of prefer "smite" ~ as it has Biblical proportions. LOL!

  7. I saw this Elizabeth Warren video after reading this post from Phil in Iowa:
"When did Democrats start saying 'we have this platform, but it is hard, so don't expect us to get it done'?"

    1. I do not recall any occasion in my lifetime when either party platform was expected to mean anything concrete.

  8. Well, I don't have fancy cable, so I can't watch the Iowa town hall event tonight. If you see it, I'd appreciate knowing how it went. Thanks.

    1. Doesn't sound familiar to me, Cat.

Got our cooktop repaired (the electrical receptacles for three of the four spiral burners needed to be replaced after only twenty-five years; they just don't make things the way they used to (and they never did). It was a light day at work today (only 8 hours), and now I am going to relax, look at some news, and see some Bernie videos. Will take a look at the Warren video too; thanks, listener.
