  1. These days I'm listening to David Whyte's CD "Solace" and reading his book "Consolations." Here's a line from the chapter "Hiding":

"What is precious inside us does not care to be known by the mind in ways that diminish its presence."

  2. I am going to be checking for news about Bernie's appearances in South Carolina as the weekend progresses. The fact that they figured they had to change the venue in Charleston (CHARLESTON! SOUTH CAROLINA!) seems to indicate the same sort of crowds Bernie has brought out in Wisconsin and on the West Coast. I have gathered that HRC and Joe Biden (if he were to throw his hat into the ring) expected to be able to do well there, and to then pull away from competitors. Maybe the ground has indeed shifted beneath the feet of the conventional politicians and their campaigning systems are now outdated. Maybe, just maybe, after all these years (40? 50?) the pendulum is swinging back, and our reinforcements are finally arriving. It has been a very long wait, and I still hope to see it within my lifetime. Well, fingers crossed.

Temperatures in the 90's now, but still quite a bit of smoke from the forest fire in the mountains to the east of us. A fan is nice, but no need for an air conditioner again tonight.

    1. Beautifully written, Alan! I too have wondered if we are entering a new political era. I do hope so!

What sort of nighttime temps are you enduring?

  3. I meant to say that they had to change the venue to one seating fourteen thousand people.
