    1. I still have the tie jc designed - blue with Howard's face all over it. I had thought to make a stuffed whale and put the Howard tie on it; obviously I never did that.

  2. Take heart! On Thursday, I heard the Chickadees singing their Spring song for the first time this year.

  3. Did any of you catch the recent story (in the news both here and Boston) of Sophie Fellows, the 9 year old violinist here in Burlington who was diagnosed with a large brain tumor? During the holiday concert in Dec she felt sick and had to leave. Her doc found the tumor and she was rushed to Boston. So her wonderful violin teacher brought musicians to Boston so Sophie could finish the concert the day before her 7 hour surgery. (There was a real concern she would never be able to play again.) It turned out that Sophie's tumor was Benign!! She is back to playing the violin. Today was her first lesson again since surgery and a few hours after the lesson her teacher learned that she herself has a large tumor. I learned this from a friend this afternoon, as the teacher also taught my friends' children. The tumor is in her leg.

Then I got a text from Mah*Sweetie telling me that his boss' wife was just diagnosed with a large tumor. Yes, same woman…!

    Small world!

  4. Yes, I remember the whale tie.

No rain here yet, but the radar says it's on the way, and should arrive a little after midnight. Warm--the "Pineapple Express" I suppose--so rain but no snow. There's lots of room in the reservoirs, so that's not a problem in the short term. But we definitely need to build more water storage and soon; we may live to see the day when there is no snowpack in the the Sierra Nevada. Yesterday or the day before the weather was clear on the way to work and I could see the mountains for the first time in quite a while; there was almost no visible snow left.
