Happy Birthday, Snowflake Bentley!

The Jericho, Vermont Historical Society has uncovered papers which show that
Wilson A. "Snowflake" Bentley was actually born on the 7th of February 1865,
not on the 9th as was previously supposed.  He died 23 December 1931.
I'm not sure my family can adjust.  But we're glad to celebrate early.  :-)

  1. The predicted rain has commenced! And that has no effect whatsoever upon Dr. Dean's firstlinest. And now to bed, without setting the alarm clock. Not that that will have any effect on our alarm cat.

    1. Mizzen is our alarm cat. Works fine when Mah*Sweetie has to get up for work. But on weekends 7:25am is way too soon. So we set a large pillow outside our door and close the door. (The pillow keeps her from scratching at the door.).

  3. I'm very grouchy today. I hate squirrels. I hate people who go out the "In" door and in the "Out" door. I hate people who roll through stop signs as if they say "Pause" Instead of "Stop". I hate telemarketers, people who call "to do a survey" and people who claim to be representing a charity. Well, I just plain hate the phone. I hate people who stand and argue with the cashier over coupons when there's a line of 9 to 12 people behind them watching their frozen food melt. I hate Republicans and their war on Everybody but the Kings of Commerce and the Koch brothers. I hate people who are all in favor of humiliating children,or smacking them around, to "teach them a lesson" --and I'm seeing more and more of that lately. I hate the drug companies that overcharge for their pills and potions. Yeah, I'm grouchy.

    1. Aw, Susan, I don't believe you, quite. I totally understand you being grouchy about those things, but I'm betting you cannot abide hatred. ♥

    2. I cannot abide hatred when it's directed toward the helpless. The stupid are fair game.

    1. Why would you unlike this, puddle? Herbs and supplements are a good thing, but it cannot be good for them to be falsely labeled and the public duped. Interesting that it was Sen. Orrin Hatch who blocked legislation that would have regulated the industry.

  5. It rained pretty good last night, and tailed off in the morning. Afternoon was nice enough that we cleaned up prunings from Sunday last and did some more pruning and cleaning up. Near sundown I was watching the big puffy gray clouds being blown north--surely the leading edge of the next storm, which is now supposed to bring us rain Sunday afternoon and evening. I see that the North Central and Northeastern states are supposed to get some very cold weather. Everybody stay safe and warm, hear?

    1. We are going to have some additional cold weather, and some additional snow, but it's really just "same ol', same ol', as it's been like this since before the New Year. :-)
