Beautiful

  1. Well, you know, Howard is first.

And we got a call saying the weather is finally good enough to install new roof we contracted for the end of November. They'll be scheduling an appointment some time in the next couple of weeks. Today's call was to see whether we wanted snow guards to keep the snow from sliding off the roof, but our house is set back far enough from the sidewalk that snow sliding off won't hurt anything.

  2. Nice sign of Spring, Bill!

We hope for a metal roof next time, and the contractor asked if we'd mind all the snow falling off the roof at once. We'd love it! Ha! It sure beats raking it off all at once with a snow rake! And anyway, it wouldn't land where people walk. :-)

  3. I've never lived where snow was anything other than a very rare oddity, but I notice up in the mountains here fully-pitched aluminum roofs are common. In Japan it seems that most metal roofs have little things sticking up a couple of feet back from the edge to keep the snow from sliding off. No snow here-temperatures to be in the 90's for the next ten days at least, they say.
