♧ Happy St. Patrick's Day! ♧

  1. Howard Dean is evergreen!

Oh my, great news about Tanner! I understand that a bone marrow transplant is a rough row to hoe, for sure. A bone marrow biopsy isn't any treat either from what I hear.

Cat--how has the new DVD player worked out? Well, I hope.

This trying for eight hours of sack time seems pretty good--my weight seems to be going down easily again, daytime drowsiness is decreased, etc. But it sure cuts into my blogging time!

I recently seem to have been making some progress with genealogy--specifically my father's father, but have played out two or three dead ends and discovered contradictory information in two official documents (a marriage license and a US Census) about the parents of the primary candidate. I realized that a photo of him at his blacksmith's shop that was noted as having been taken in 1882 must have been taken later--there was a boy in the photo with a bicycle of a type that hadn't been invented yet; it might have been commercialized about 1893 at the earliest. The partners in the shop evidently parted ways and dissolved the business about 1907.

Hecox & Cornell Blacksmiths--Edward Cornell second from left [Click] The playbills would probably permit the year to be ascertained, with some luck and enough searching through newspapers.

Our old wheelbarrow is very well used, and sometimes a bit of a struggle to handle. This weekend we bought and assembled one with two wheels forward, which is certainly more stable, but takes some learning how to drive!

For what it's worth, I think my father's mother's family came originally from the southwest of Ireland--judging from the family name [Cummins] and my father's black hair. No cultural influence on me, though.

    1. WOW! Currently 28F here, supposedly heading toward upper 30s. Supposed to be around 60F tomorrow (primary election day). That could be enough to melt all the snow except where shoveling has piled it up. Then more snow flurried Wednesday.

  4. Before this snow, I still had one enormous patch of ice in front of the sun room: original two feet, then the two feet from the sunroom roof (whoomp!), and then the two feet from the attic roof sliding down the sunroom roof and WHOOMP!

This snow looking to be about the predicted foot. Haven't gotten Nancy's report yet. (Her collector is on her deck--I'm so treed in that I need to get out into the middle of the road to take measurements.

  5. It looks like most of your snow will melt off Weds - Fri, puddle. May it be so, but slowly enough that you aren't swamped.

Today I drove to NH and back for two excellent meetings. While I was traveling, Eldest was flying back from Amsterdam. His flight got in to Dulles 2 minutes early. But his flight from Dulles to here was a mess…repeatedly delayed for 3.5 hours on top of a 2 hour layover. He's home now, though just barely. Yikes.
