  1. Howard's the leader of the drummer boys!

Nancy put up some pictures of the tree guy yesterday. I don't know if they're public or not, 'cause I can see 'em, but I'm a friend. In case you can, this is my country, taken uproad between my place and hers: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=389147607845380&set=pcb.389150927845048&type=1&relevant_count=3&ref=nf

Turns out I was wrong: no claws--this one doesn't cut whole trees, just branches. There's a large saw at the top, and a row of smaller saws underneath. Amazing technology

Let me know if you can see it.

    1. Nope. Clicking on the link gives me the message, "This page is currently unavailable."

But looking out the window, I can see snow on the garage roof. Not much, though. The drought continues.

  4. Thanks for the feedback. If I could post on any google related gizmo, I'd put it there: it's a right pretty picture.

Am working my way through the Waltons again. Funny: '73 was forty years past the opening year, 1933; and now we're another forty years past that. That first forty seemed like light years, these second forty, like a blink of an eye.

    1. Funny, Puddle. I look at it the opposite. Someone transported from 1933 to 1973 would have culture shock, sure, but he would find a basically recognizable world. Someone transported from 1973 to today would think he'd woken up in an SF movie, if not on a different planet.

  5. The tech doesn't always work the way you expect. Went to post the link to my Saturday blog entry on FB. There's a mechanism that allows you to select a thumbnail from the page you're linking to. Usually when I link to Arty, the mechanism defaults to the lovely waterlily of listener's in the sidebar. Tonight it defaulted to image from the video I'd imbedded and didn't give me any choice. Annoyed me. I like that waterlily.

The video is Patty Page with "Old Cape Cod." Something, the blurb on the video I think, mentioned her husky, sexy voice. Patty Page? Sexy??? She always struck me as being nearly as wholesome as Doris Day. Mind you, Doris can be pretty seductive, but in a very sweet way. Sexy is something a bit different...Getting myself tangled up in semantics I suppose. The point is, the concepts Patty Page and sexy never came together in my mind before and I can't quite make them fit together.

    1. It makes me happy that you still like the Waterlily, Cat! I use it as an icon photo on the little cards we attach to our Staff Picks at the Library (we have a special table for Staff Picks). :-)

  6. I was thinking more of the passage of time rather than the culture. Though I think the culture now is closer to then, than then was before. Technology, now, that is HUGE.

And Happy Birthday, Sweetie. May it be a good 'un.
