  3. { ♥ Thanks, Shelley!! ♥ }}

    You too, puddle!! :-)

    Today's surprise is that the Primary is just for state-wide races. The local races will be added come November. So I won't see my name on the ballot until November 6th. The interesting thing is that this means my name WILL be on the ballot in November...!

  4. Shelley...as we say when loved ones visit us here at home:
    "Come back and see us again now that you know where we are." ;-)

    Isaac is a hurricane hitting New Orleans on the 7th anniversary of Katrina. :-(

  6. Home and all settled in.

    Today went great, though I had a low-grade headache throughout. But I got to count the vote, validate all three checklists, sign off on both voting machines, and even got to bring home a copy of the printouts!

    Most interesting news of the day: about 17% of voters voted. 80% of those who voted were Democrats. If that happens in November I will definitely get elected.

    We are likely to have a much greater turnout in November, of course.

    Sweetest moment of the day: The Justice of the Peace whom I admire most in town mentioned that she has three wedding ceremonies she’d be happy to give me copies of. That was a nice vote of confidence.

  7. It poured furiously for about twenty minutes this morning, starting round about a quarter till eight. Woke everyone up except Dad, who said he never heard a thing.. *sigh* Must be nice to be able to sleep like a log. The rest of the day was mostly sunny and warm. Quite nice, really, especially since the forecast called for thunderstorms all day.

    Trying not to think about how scary the Republicans are. Got a fundraising e-mail from the president this evening and answered the call to become a recurring donor. It isn't for that long. And I want him to win!!!

    Mum and Dad bought the kitties a very elaborate activity center, with all sorts of things to climb and places to sleep, etc. it hasn't gotten rave reviews, but a couple of kitties have shown cautious interest. We'll see hat happens with it.

    Nothing much else going on. I'm not feeling too chipper, but hope to be back up to scratch tomorrow.

  8. Yowser! The poor Gulf of Mexico shoreline!!!

    Hurricane Isaac looked to be making landfall at New Orleans, but instead slowed to a crawl and has been jogging westward. That's going to make for massive beach erosion and repositioning, and putting an end to any bird nesting for the season. Rough on the wildlife.
