First time placed on a bed!

The strange part about making the king-sized quilt was not having access to a king-sized bed to check it out on. So I am happy to report that it fit beautifully when we tried it out on the king-sized bed at the inn where we stayed. The pillow shams are (deliberately) standard size, since that's what the recipients use. During the wedding reception, I had all the fun of bringing four sisters-in-law up to this room to show off the quilt. That was fun, especially as littlest granddaughter came along! ♥

  1. All good, all good, listener. Howard can share or yield first place to the connubial couple.

A fried of Miyoko's will be visiting in September and expressed a desire to visit Las Vegas, so the two of them will go together, see a fancy show and take a Grand Canyon tour (the same tour we took before getting married). The airfare and hotel are actually quite inexpensive, even in dollars. The whole shebang is downright cheap in yen, which is great for the friend.

Thanks for the link to the dark hot gas giant planet story, Cat; I meant to read that, but it slipped my mind.

  3. September? Maybe they can go see Engelbert.

Yeah, the hot, dark planet is pretty intriguing. I have my own theory about that, which is that the darkness is caused by pollution from a runaway industrialized society, and the planet is a cautionary tale to Earth. Somehow, though, I doubt that this theory will be popular with scientists. 8)

  4. Latest update from the New Horizons mission to Pluto:

Niel DeGrasse Tyson and other Pluto haters may have to change their tune. Did you hear, a fourth moon, or moonlette, has been discovered between Hydra and Nyx? I think it should be called Lethe, and told the NH folks so when they asked on Twitter.

Click on "albums" then click on "The Light Inside-2010" then click on the arrow beside "The Light Inside." Sing along. Maybe you'll even be inspired to click on "Europe or Bust Tour and Album."

Josh played last weekend at Son's wedding. He wrote and sang both this song and the "If I Had a Balloon" tune that son and I danced to. His voice & heart are velvet. Listen for yourself! I have photo of him showing my littlest (2 year old) granddaughter how to do a little dance step...just the two of them on the stage and very casual.
At the end of the Pyrotechnic performance at the wedding, Josh sang this song a capella and we all joined in. Very moving!

Josh leaves soon to play a European tour.
