It's getting hot. Can't we just have Spring again?

  1. Howard is first. AGAIN.

Tired, and under the wing. . . .

  2. Off to the Bay Area bright and early; court in Pleasanton Wed. morning, stay in Berkeley, court in Oakland Thursday morning. My good wife's stingy husband might even take her out to dinner, eh?

  3. Off to run errands. I have library books to return due today. Our libraries have been hit with large budget cuts and have shortened their hours on alternate days.

Then a load to leave at the thrift shop, though I always seem to go home with almost as much "new" stuff as I left behind. I do love thrift shops the most though. You can shop without going broke and by buying used you're recycling at the same time.

Then off to the grocery. I've been doing more cooking and I confess to growing tired of it. Unfortunately it's a necessity.

I've always grouped my errands, but with the trampolining of gas prices in my area it's become necessary instead of just practical.

Hope you all have a good day today.

  4. Oh, before I forget. Had a reliable contractor out yesterday to inspect the roof. Turns out we too have hail damage as do many in the area and will need to get a new roof. That is in the works. Feel sorry for the roofers because with the time lapse they'll end up on a hot roof in 90 degree weather. Glad we have insurance, sorry we have to use it.

It's getting hot? Well, 61 at the moment. Don't know I'd call that "hot."

  6. Yep. I've got 68º at the moment. Niceness is supposed to last till the weekend, with a good bit of rain, starting tomorrow. Which means I don't have to haul buckets of water up to the garden.

Three prongs today: garden, stonework on the terrace, and plastering in the bathroom. The last likely to be after dinner.

Tomorrow *has* to be town. Debate is whether to go ahead and do Harrisonburg or just the county seat. As soon as I wrote that, I knew it would be Franklin, lol! Sometimes just writing stuff out helps.

  7. Sooo sorry to hear about your Library's budget cuts and reduced hours!! :-(

Good for you grouping errands...that is exactly what I do and have always done. I even group my activities inside the house, carrying loads of stuff upstairs or down each time I go up or down and even cleaning certain spots that are along the route. I learned the value of that while raising 5 kiddos and home schooling....never waste a trip. Ha!

It's funny that you mention it today because I zoomed into town today, stopping along the way to pick up theatre tickets for Mah*Sweetie's Father's Day gift, then on to Danforth Pewters downtown to pick up the wedding shower gift for Saturday, then home by way of getting a haircut and filling the tank on the Mini. I managed to do all of that and get back in time for Mah*Sweetie to take the Mini to work instead of his klunker of a truck. And all of this despite my mizzzerable cold.

Does your Thrift Shoppe carry Summer hats by any chance? If so I might look and see if ours does. I need a hat for the wedding, and I have one but I'm not sure I like it enough. We'll see.

  8. 78.5 so far here and I do not like it. Sunshine is nice, but it's too hot. I prefer 60-75.

  9. MOMENTOUS: When I stopped to by the theatre tickets, the young woman at the ticket office asked if either of the two of us whom the tickets are for are over 55. I had to admit we were. Thus I received my first ever Senior Discount...! I was surprised...it all happened so fast. But! I have to say it felt really nice...! I think I could get used to this!

  11. 79.2, wind 1 mph. Bleah.

I'm glad your gardens are going to get watered by the volunteer this weekend, puddle!

All the best to you in town and back again. ♥

  12. What I usually do is buy a new, plain straw hat. Then I spray-paint it the color I need if it's not going to be plain straw. Next I put on a ribbon around the crown with streamers down the back and than add flowers if needed. Either that or I don't bother with a hat at all.

  13. I can live with 80º ~~ it's upper 80's that begin to get to me. And dependent on it's getting cool enough at night to sleep. . .

I may yet go to Harrisonberg. Still have the stuff to take to the charity, and Beau needs a tag, and a BIG bag of dogfood. Puppy food. And a new leash. And some things are a great deal cheaper at Kroger's than here, AND it's cool enough to take mr. puppy.

I, too, consider upper 70s - lower 80s ideal. I get very tired of 60s when it's supposed to be summer.

Yes, I found senior discounts easy to get used to.

  16. Those are good idears, Susan. Thanks! I'm thinking of either a string of beads around the crown or a mesh bow that matches my dress (if I can find the colour). I'd love a rosette but might have to make that as they're hard to come by in this shade of aqua.

No hat isn't an option for me as it's going to be August and outside in the sun. I get headaches fast if the day is hot and humid and I'm out in the sun. Hoping the humidity stays down.

  17. Candles are decorated, gift is wrapped, clothes are washed, dried, some ironed and all packed and the dishwasher is done. Now to get some sleep, then off to work, then I get to drive the bride-to-be to her parents' house, then off to my hotel. Meetings on Friday, wedding shower on Saturday, home that night so I can celebrate Father's Day with Mah*Sweetie ~ who will be here tending Emma-cat and working and mowing the lawn and so on, while I'm away.

Did I mention that i also made 30 brownies for the shower?
I'm all tuckered out. Time to go get tucked in.

Traveling Mercies to you puddle...and, belatedly, Alan.

Photos are set to post. Take care and have fun! XOXOXXX
