All Together...

I'm looking forward to seeing my Granddaughters this weekend!

  1. Mamas and their babies are first, just like Howard Dean.

  2. Phew! Finally got my little tribute to Jacques Cousteau up at Arty, back dated to Friday morning, of course. Holly smokes but it was a struggle! Window-eyes does not play well with the Blogger post edit page. It's murder to put together anything on the fly, which is sometimes the way a post needs to be put together rather than neatly typed up first in Word and then just pasted in. It will take me a while to calm down.

  3. listener, good luck with the plants, and have a good time in Maine.

Alan, have a good rest. Must go back and click that link you put on the last thread.

BTW I lit another candle for Ally and will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.

  4. Having gotten my new mouse, went back and deactivated mouse keys. Never could make em work anyways, lol! All advice on using them is how to activate the keys, but then nothing that I could would happen. One more Icon off of my screen. . . .

  6. Vanilla water fudge? Why is my mouth watering before I even know what it is?

Donno about mouse keys in an operating system. My mouse keys are all controlled by Window-eyes. Glad you got the new mouse. Much more familiar and comfortable for you.

  7. Would have been nice to know how to work the backup. So much of the help available on the net is written by peeps *too* experienced to even know what they're leaving out for the beginner. . . .

Water fudge is made with water instead of canned milk, or cream, or milk, or some such dairy product. It's a tiny bit grainier than regular fudge, but I like it. I had sugar in the house because of the grand kiddles visist, and this was a quick way to get rid of the last four cups in one swell foop, lol! What finally saved it, on the third round, was a teaspoon of corn startch. Go figure.

Went to hear Gov. Quinn this morning. It was the regular "second Saturday" meeting of the local Democratic party, except it was at Unity Temple instead of party headquarters. That meant a 15-min rather than a 45-min walk, which becomes important when the start time is not much after my usual rising time.

I can't say Gov. Quinn's talk was especially inspiring, except in terms of reminding us of just how terrible the Republican nominee is. But I did learn that the economic situation is Illinois is improving more than I'd realized.

As you may know (but more likelyh don't), Unity Temple was the first public building that Frank Lloyd Wrigt designed. In many ways it's typical of what we think of as the Wright style. What I specially noted about the sanctuary, though, is that it's quite small but has two sets of balconies. The result is that everyone is quite close to the speaker.

    A very interesting building indeed.
