Great Aunt Evelyn's Lilac Hedge

Note it's size in comparison to the mailbox! All our lilacs here at home are from this hedge.
Aunt Evelyn lived to be 99 1/2. No one knows how old the hedge is.

Howard is first. And it looks like everybody else is as snowed under as I am. Just cancellled out of hte science writers' lunch tomorrow because I'm afraid I'll need the time for work.

But we got our beautiful new cookstove today. And the asbestos gets removed from the old boiler tomorrow. Progress is being made.

  2. Well, after two weeks and two days, with one ten hour break, I seem to be back on line. They finally kicked me up to level two repair. (Already at level two complaints.) Boy, it takes a long time to get sorted out after that much time off line.

Have to laugh, really: after all Verizon's questions about am I sure it's not *my* computer, when *their* line works, MY computer does just fine, lol!

Good to be back. Have missed you all.

And Alan, congrats to the daughter in SF. Ab so lute ly wonderful!! She comes with a pretty unique set of talents and interests -- bet her new bosses feel like they did something very good to have found her. xox

  6. Thanks, Puddle. I am still trying to get my head around the idea that the computer games we took a dim view of Naomi playing "when she could be studying" turned out to be job preparation... The job qualifications (http://www.storm8.com/2010/01/18/graphic-designer/) include "strong empathy for users."

In other news, we have a new baby giraffe at the Fresno zoo, and last night I watched the TV pilot for the series "Dead Like Me." It was really pretty good!
