ALLY

Here is Ally at the Dinosaur Exhibit last weekend.

Today Ally has some tests.
Two years ago today, Ally's parents learned that her neuroblastoma cancer is the aggressive, high-risk kind.
One year ago today they learned that her cancer had returned.
Let's hope the third February 19th is the charm!

I wrote a note to the author of a book I just read--a book sufficiently interesting that I find myself continuing to reflect on it. The few times that I have written to authors they have responded very nicely.

  4. Same here, Alan! I have written to some of my favourite authors over the years and in each case it turned into a pen-friendship. This was the case with Rumer Godden, Madeleine L'Engle, Thomas H. Green and Gerald "Jerry" May. I hope you hear back. When an author gets actual, thoughtful feedback to a work that has taken perhaps years to cohere, it's a means of finally being able to have their deepest conversations. I hope you do hear back.

  5. Ally's Mom wrote simply:

    "Positive thoughts for Ally today!"

I would add: "and positive thoughts for her parents and grandparents and all who love them."

Thanks so much for the candles!! You ROCK!

Thanks for all of your positive thoughts today. We will not have news about the Brain MRI or the echocardiogram until next week.

We are off to NYC for 2 weeks. We leave on Sunday. The first week is more scans. The second week will be 3f8 (antibody therapy) treatment.

  8. So, am I on the wrong thread or what?

  9. Hi listener. I was confused last night, not quite grokking that it was after midnight and so this was the right thread. *sigh* Sometimes I get very confused.

To answer your kind question, I'm hanging in here, thanks. Having a hard time sleeping, a hard time working... But, things could definitely be worse.

  10. listener, any word from Puddle?

  11. Hi Cat! :) I'm glad you're okay. I am experiencing some of the same things...not sleeping great, having a hard time getting motivated to clean my workspace so that I can finally dive in on the book I need to work on. I had a bit of a fever last night ~ which may explain a few things. I am mostly on the mend and work tomorrow at the salt mine. So my hope is to get the workspace in order and start the writing project on Sunday.

I have not heard from puddle, but didn't expect to. She is just waiting for her monitor to arrive. If she hasn't posted by tomorrow afternoon, I'll give her a call.

  13. listener, I saw on FB that you weren't feeling well. That kind of low grade lousy feeling that never resolves into a full blown cold is the worst. I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. Are you staying hydrated?

  14. I read a very exciting mystery by Mary Roberts Reinhardt called The Bat. Now reading a Regency romance by Georgette Hayer(sp?) called Frederica. Quite delightful. I'm better than halfway through the book, and neither our heroine nor our hero has yet figured out that they're in love. One rather wants to shake them both. They are so obviously perfect for each other. However, as I said, it's a most enjoyable read.
